With Perras seemingly taking the fall guy mantle on here does anyone think that with a different goalie we would have necessarily be in a better position or are there other issues involved.
Personally I have been disappointed in Calder this year primarily it seems that being given the captaincy has taken a lot from his game that we have seen in the past few seasons.

I have to agree, JF has been made the scapegoat here! A different netminder wouldnt make any great difference. I think some people are blinkered when it comes to 'established' payers. I agree too that Adam has been a little disapointing this year but no-one is calling for him to go!

Maybe with a different netminder we may have picked up a few more points, but still think Steelers would be top. Dave Matsos has built something extremely close to being the complete team at Sheffield, just like Paul Thompson did at Blaze in 04-05 and 06-07/07-08, whereas Blaze seem to have had something lacking all season, possibly self discipline given the amount of early goals we've been conceeding.

I don't think JF is being made a scapegoat to be honest. His performances haven't cost us many games but, and this is really key, he hasn't won us any games. Lehman and Koenig won us games that we had no right to win in Championship years and thats exactly what Lehman did on Sunday. I'm guessing Thommo felt the same when he tried to get Hirsch in.

Anyone feeling let down with Wever not giving Perras sufficient support this season? Is the D as a whole weaker and therefore easier for teams to score against?

Perras is being made a scapegoat and it's wrong. Goalies go through damp spells and the important thing is to support the goalie through his damp spell. I don't think Perras is always as well protected as he should be by his defence. Although I do see it improving now with a full D contingent and Forsyth is top draw defensively. I think possibly a different goalie would have saved the odd goal, but then earlier in the season when Perras was on form that different goalie might not have made some of Perras's saves. It's sixth of one...

Whilst being a tad early for this I'd say.... Show the door; Dechatelets You what! Are you mental? Hasn't Desch got more points than anyone else on the team?

You what! Are you mental? Hasn't Desch got more points than anyone else on the team? Not quite. Adam - 64 points (4th in league) Dan - 63 points (5th in league) Sylvain - 62 points (7th in league) and Weaver isn't too far behind with 55 points (13th in league)

Did Thommo ever come out and say "I'm trying to sign Hirsch to replace Perras?" or did anyone at the club for that matter?

There's a nice article on the AAB web site about it if you're not sure. I think it's fair to say they did.
As Des, he's a keeper for me. Just look at the goal he made in Hull for Barrie, forced the turnover then instead of just blasting it in the vague direction of the goal held onto it to piece out Barrie on the weak side. If you had him centering a line with somebody like Huppe then I'd put money on them both making 100 points for the season.

I like Deschatelets too and is deffinitely true that if he was on a line with a player like Huppe they would tear it up.

Barrie Moore i believe is the one of the most under-rated players is in the whole league. He is fantastic on the counter attack, great vision and he is the first person i would have on my PK team. Yes he might not get as many points as he used to but he is a quality quality player and if I'm not mistaken one of the most experienced players in the whole of this league if not the country.
As for JF, i think he is a good NM don't get me wrong but in this league, as Jody has proven, you need a keeper who can pick you up an extra 5 or 6 points via Overtime and pen shots just like Trevor did numerous times last season.
Sly Deschatelets is a quality player, i reckon if he didn't faff about with the puck sometimes then he could be a little more effective. But even still he's going to pick up 80+ points this season. I'd like to see him back! Defiantly
