I was sure we had this thread on here already but can't find it...oh well.
Basically just post the last film/s you watched, and include a short review if you want, or a rating.
And remember, if you post spoilers, give a warning and use the [sp oiler][ /spoiler ] tag.
Irreversible - I'm never sure how I feel about this film. It's brutal, violent, disturbing and difficult to follow, but how it's shot, and the fact that it starts at the end (literally, the movie begins at the end of the end credits, and goes through them backwards) is simply stunning. It's not an enjoyable film (far from it, there are several moments where I almost have to turn it off) but it is still a great movie. One scene I think is violence for the sake of it, just because they felt like including something that shocking in the film, but it doesn't really ruin the movie. Not for anyone with a weak stomach, but if you are a fan of horror films (I guess it's classed under horror, perhaps just "Very violent drama" would be a better description) you should see it. It's in French so you either need a subtitled or dubbed version (which almost certainly means a cut version) Dubbed is easier to follow if you can put up with it, I'd suggest subtitled though.
Sawathon - Saw to Saw V in one sitting (minus a small break between IV and V to get to the cinema) - By far the best way to watch those movies. Really get a sense of how the films link up together (apart from V, which still seems a bit pointless) Notice more things each time I watch them, some which answer questions from a previous viewing, some that make more questions. Just hope they are all answered in Saw VI.

Quantum Of Solace yesterday. Not much impressed to be honest. I prefer the Bond-by-numbers films of Brosnan, Dalton. Connery & Moore

Evil Dead II - Awesome movie. Great mix of comedy and horror, good fun. Special effects are dated and it's not exactly scary but if I was forced to choose I would say it was the best of the trilogy. I can't believe they removed the wire from the flying eyeball scene on the Blu-ray release though, it's part of what makes that scene a classic. Saw V - It actually gets worse after multiple viewings. The storyline gets weaker and the plot holes get bigger. And the end just kills the series. It's like "Thanks for watching the previous films, but now we are going to make them a complete waste of time." Not good, and Saw VI is going to have to be something special if they want to end the series on a high. You should still see it if you've seen the previous movies though. Iron Man - One of the better comic book movies. Seem to focus more on the man, rather than the hero and what he can do with his fancy new suit. Good action scenes, great special effects, great acting performances. Saw II - It's certainly my least favorite of the Saw movies, but it's still good. Just missing something and I've never figured out what it is, just doesn't reach the same standard as the others. I do find it hillarious that the unrated version is actually less gory than the rated version. Seems DLB and Co think Jigsaw eating Cheerios is scarier than more blood when someone dies

Wall-E - Awesome movie! I think 3rd best Disney film after The Lion King and Toy Story. Funny and entertaining all the way through, even for the first half where there is pretty much no dialogue. And it looks great on blu-ray. The Pixar short is also great. Not the funniest (I think that title has to go to For The Birds) but still great and worth watching.

Watched Bad Santa on FIVE last night. Not a brilliant film, terrible language all the way through, probably gave me one or two laughs but can't really remember, the majority of it was cringeworthy. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would probably give it a 3.

Yesterday evening I watched the 1992 (didn't realise it was that long ago) classic family Christmas film The Muppet Christmas Carol starring Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge and Kermit The Frog as Bob Cratchit. Quite a nice film compared to the last one I watched. 6 out of 10.

The Day the Earth Stood Still
Watchable but not necessarily gonna be a classic in years to come.

Pan's Labyrinth - I just don't get it. No matter how many times I see it, I just don't get why people rave about it so much. It seems to be stuck somewhere between fantasy, drama and horror, never really committing to any of them. It's more fantasy than anything else, but then a scene that wouldn't look out of place in a Saw movie pops up. I keep giving it chances, maybe thinking it will get better after several viewings, and while I do appreciate the visuals/make up fx etc, I still don't think it's a good movie.

Saw V - It unfortunatly carries on getting worse with each viewing. The plotholes become even bigger and story gets more and more confusing. I know Saw I-III had different writers to Saw IV-VI but surely if even the fans can keep up with all the different events in the series then the new writers should be able to as well

I watched Transporter and Transporter 2 so that I can go see Transporter 3! I think that Jason Statham would have made a better James Bond - there just seems to be more to him than Daniel Craig!

As a Bond officianado I am not yet fully sold on Daniel Craig (Excellent actor though he is). As mentioned before I prefer the Bond-by-numbers approach- gadgets, women, vehicle chases, arch egocentric villain etc
