we are expected to re-sign Calder, so i think that puts us out the door for someone like smith, wage cap must have took a dent already with the imports we have, i was told this morning that Smith has signed and was in the hockey locker yesterday my source is usually very reliable altho this does seem a bit far fetched!! would be great tho eh?? indeed, would be great, but i then wouldn't expect the likes of Martin and maybe even Calder (who has apparently signed... hmm as the wage budget seems as big as a big wage budget to have the likes of Koenig, Cloutier, Carlson, Stewart, Moore and a brit like Weaver, there cant be much more space left money wise, unless, again the uni is playing a big factor with current players on the roster and future, Smith was one of the stand out players last year in the league, very skilled and a good scorer, he would be on high wages i'd expect, and if we've apparently signed Calder then i'd be dreaming, to have a first line of AC/DC and Smithy the high wages and calder signing is why i left smith out and thought he'd go elsewhere after strong rumours early off season he was coming here, Sam, i would love you to be right mate, Predicted Lines or should i say hopeful lines Smith/Huppe Carlson Calder Moore Cloutier Stewart Cowley Watkins ? Archer/Carlon maybe Weavs ?Martin? Ndur Nasredinne Peasy TK Foney i'd expect with TK staying, if thommo wants him, Samy would surely stay another year, with them lines: wow ;D

An old name from the ISl has pitched up at Nottingham... PC Drouin along with a re-signing of Corey Nielson (good d-man) Tasker is heard to be having one more season with the Blaze, for a Cowley/Watkins/Tasker 3rd Line ;D

Steve-that's just naughty. And I refuse to bite. That wage cap is starting to look very tight indeed with all the mentioned players-I hope they're all on degree courses and thus the loophole is being exploited to the full. PC Drouin is a VERY good signing for the Panthers indeed...

PC Drouin is a VERY good signing for the Panthers indeed... Got to admit, I think this PC Drouin character isn't going to be as great as the hype suggests. All these old school Panthers fans are getting very excited! Fair enough, I'm impressed that he was able to score a few flukey goals back in that pansey import-filled ISL. The guy has also played in some of the top euro leagues, but big deal! Last year he was player / assistant coach of the same team as Cheverie and Welch and he only got one more point than Cheverie and scored three points less than Welch. So he isn't exactly going to be owning the league. A fair bit of this post is a tad sarcastic, I'm sure he will do well in this league and make a good right-hand man for ellis, but still I don't believe he will be as good as some suggest.

i would like to see some new blood on the top line with ACDC. im not saying smith wouldnt be an awesome signing because he obviously would be but if we can fish around for an american league player or an east coaster whos looking at the wrong side of the veteran system then it could give us a huge boost.
i read somewhere last season archer would be in a blaze jersey replacing giz? AND what about tasks, does thommo want him back?

Points do not tell the whole story-Drouin was ridiculously good at finishing when given space and time in what was (despite all the claims to the contrary) a league of a far higher standard. And he had a lightning first few strides which would get him ahead of a lot of EIHL d-men....he may have lost a step or two now but he's a wily old fox who can still find space...or Panther, if you will.. I accept what you're saying, but if they find a decent set-up man for him and they click, watch out EIHL defences...
