I know the table doesn't mean much right now because it is changing all the time but everywhere I look the table has some kind of mistake on it. Whether its on Ceefax, Teletext, The Coventry Evening Telegraph and even the Elite League Website. They all have something wrong on them whether its the amount of games a team has played, the amount of points they are on, or even the amount of games a team has won/drew/lost/overtime loss. So here is what I make the Elite League Top Three to be. 1.) Belfast: Played 35, Points 48 2.) Coventry: Played 34, Points 48 3.) Cardiff: Played 32, Points 45. I'm I right or I'm I wrong? As it goes I don't know whether we have got a game in hand of Belfast or not. I just know that Cardiff have got two games in hand of us. Its really important that websites etc get these sort of things right because come the end of the season we could have won the league and not know about it because every league table we look at is wrong. An even worse scenario is that we could all think we have won the league when we havn't .

where did you get those results? on the elite league site which is normally up to date says
1.) Belfast: Played 34, Points 48 2.) Coventry: Played 34, Points 48 3.) Cardiff: Played 33, Points 45.

Cardiff had only played 31 games before the weekend and they only played one game this weekend that adds up to 32, so either the table that says they have played 33 is wrong or last weeks table where it said they had played 31 was wrong.

Almost correct. Except Blaze are in fact top due to having a better record than Belfast as far as OT wins go...

Belfast are top as they have won 19 games in regulation, where as Blaze have won 18 in regulation. Belfast have also won more overtime games as well.
Also Cardiff only have 1 game in hand as we had played the same number after last weekend. Which means if they wintheir game in hand they are still 1 point behind.

We have this debate every time we are level with A.N. Other. The main deciding factor as James points out is Regulation wins.
That said that double header in Belfast is getting more and more likely to possibly being a "winner takes all" situation

I think it's shocking that every week we have to sit here and figure out how many games we've played and all that when it's somebody's job. In every other sport there is no word of constantly messing up stats yet somebody behind the scenes here gets it consistently wrong each week.
If the Elite League and the sport in this country wants to be considered seriously then they better get their league table sorted!!

I understand the format of the league and I don't have a problem with it. What I have a problem with is looking at the league table in four different places that all have the same date on them yet are all different. If we do only have the one game in hand of Cardiff the table on the Elite League site was wrong last week and the table on Ceefax was wrong on Sunday.

The tables are not good and they do vary and i think in the player ranking thingybob on the elite site the CC semi matches are included when you would think it should be for league games only. On a personal note i think that seperating teams on most wins seems a bit random you would think goal difference would apply first but i know it doesn't.

As far as i'm aware goal difference is not considered at any point in league positions, it is viewed that by doing this if teams are losing by say 4 goals, they can then play the brits so they get experience and it doesn't matter if you concede another x number of goals.

There's also a question mark over the number of points that London have.
If you remember correctly, in there final CC cup group phase game versus Belfast, they pulled the netminder in Overtime to try and force the extra point.
Belfast scored, and under Elite League rules that means that London lose there extra point, but that hasn't been reflected in the table.
