It is planned to have 31 weekly programmes during the 2007/08 season hopefully featuring every club at some time in their home venue. The show will focus on a single game each week, however it is expected that a highlights summary of action from around the league will be incorporated into the format. The show will be broadcast initially on Thursday evenings at 5.00 pm on Sky Sports Xtra with a repeat on Friday morning. eliteleague.co.uk/news/detail.php?id=5190myself i see it as a good move, but just don't want it to increase prices of everything, but still, a positive move for British Ice Hockey

It could backfire with some teams being broadcast in front of half empty venues. Not sure also that it would attract many new fans as the sporting world has no secrets any more so it seems

Dave Simms has just said Notts and Sheff are the big teams in this league no matter who won the league!!! what a clown

The big teams are the teams that consistantly win the trophies. Since the Elite League began Blaze have won 5 trophies including (two league titles) out of a possible 14 (not including Charity Shield) available to them. Nottingham have won just 2 trophies (no league title) in that time, although to their credit they have entered the Continental Cup twice. Sheffield have won 3 trophies in that time, fair enough they did do the league and playoff double but that was back in 2004, since then they only have a Knockout Cup to their name. So other than the obvious point about attendances I'd love to know how Simmsy can say they are the big 2.

despite that fact that dave simms pointed out which was rather quite wrong, they are big teams in the league, but they are certainly not the big two as in the Man Yoo and Chelski, otherwise, i thought it was a great 2 and half hours, glad it shown the full game as well, not just selected highlights which was what was done on the NASN programme, roll on for the sky cameras in the dome

Nice to see a decent fight on the coverage...something sadly lacking thus far at the Dome this season

As it appears that some of the fights are fixed anyway though, I don't see what the entertainment is in that.
[Disclaimer, I can not prove whether they are fixed, or not, but I do have my own opinions.]

I thought the show wasn't that good. We had highlights of the charity shield set to some silly music but only saw about 2 goals from each side, and they did not confirm the final result. They then ran through the opening weekends results without showing any highlights for any game.
If thats the coverage on it, I don't see many elite league fans watching the show, unless its their team on.

i think its hull v nottingham next although the programme synopsis mentions blaze but no other team!! i also dont think they show highlights from other games due the quality of the recordings!! and it would be far to expenssive for sky to send out decent cameras to all rinks!! where as football grounds have there own(decent) cameras to record the play!!
i didnt think it was a great production but at the end of the day i love ice hockey and got to see a game i wouldnt been able to before, so i still think its a good idea, infact a great idea, even better wen the blaze get on the show!! as we can see it from a differerent view and replays!! the production will only get better with time!!
what a quote fro thommo when askd about jody and ash "i hope they finish 2nd in everythin they do" ;D legend
