Yeah the Pens have been bad the past few seasons, and for the majority of the last NHL season really stank, but the 2 major pluses that came through were Marc-Andre Fleury (best netminder to be drafted for a few seasons, showed that he has the ability to be a franchise goalie, sent back to juniors to avoid paying a rather large bonus that was shortly due) at the start of the season and the form at in the last month of the seaon which was far better than a lot of the other teams. IF the penguins youngsters develop well (the lock out could help young teams) and they can keep hold of them they are going to soon be back in the play offs. As for comments about Lemieux, he is an unbelievable player, arguably the best ever to have played the game. He's already in the hall of fame and if the teams in the NHL weren't so based on defence as they are now he would be ripping them apart even with the current pens team along side him. The last NHL season wasn't his best but he was a sole focus the majority of the time. Imagine if you put Calder on the Bison team from last season how many goals do you think he'd have scored? A damn site fewer than he did. On budget though the pens weren't really that bad, not compared to the perennial underachievers that are the rangers. Jeez just imagine the squad the pens could still have with that budget

Doesn't mean they are the best team though. Although they are quite good, but nothing compared to when Gretzky was playing for them.
