The summers wouldn't be the summer without Channel 4s flagship show (And the one that keeps it and the media in greenbacks) Big Brother. In this the 10th year everyone thinks they know the formula but there will doubtless be some twist. It is as ever the show which gets EVERYBODY talking as peversely it gets a lot of anti fans who bemoan about it more than any other programme....which in reality proves that they care as much as the pro fans as if they really didn't care for it they would watch one of the other 500+ channels available

I may find it hard to get into this year as I will be away on holiday for the start of it.

No it doesn't, what if you only have 4 channels to choose from? When one is something you don't like most the time, it only gives you 3 channels. TV is bad enough without losing one whole channel for 4 months.

There can't be many people who only watch terrestrial television these days. And even if they for some strange reason don't have then there are a number of things they can do without moaning about a popular programme that is on and warrants its slot.
Besides no Big Brother would in all likelihood mean no Channel 4
Not ong now till the big launch ;D

Well there obviously are some because I'm one of them. What things could I do? Certainly can't get freeview as our area doesn't have it yet (heck we can't even get channel 5 here!), Sky multiroom isn't an option cause 1)the cost and 2) how difficult it would be to install. So for those who do only have 4 channels and hate Big Brother, it's a very valid argument when complaining that they pretty much lose an entire channel for the summer.

All the digital packages are cheap enough now for everyone to afford so only sticking to the 5 terrestrial channels is an over frugal opyion in my book. Anyway having caught up with this years summer spectacular here is my impression of the first couple of weeks. Never got to see much of Banazair to see whether she would be any good. Sophia had bags of potential but in typical fashion the biggest early characters fall fould of the voting eccentricities. Saffia went in with a heavy attitude and left with her tail between her legs, Cairon should have been more active and then would probably have been saved. Of those that remain; Sree is hilarious to watch but would be a nightmare to be in the presence of. It is funny to watch his unrequited stalking of Noireen (sp?). The lasy in question seems to know which strings to pull and with fellow pupeteer Marcus (Wolverine) this could be delightful if it stays the right side of bullying. Lisa looks to be filling certain stereotype boxes but has quickly become the house "mother". Charlie is one that I thought would be far more irritating than he has been so far...ditto for Rodrigo. Angel is must watch due to the fact you never now quite what she's goimng to do next, however whatever she does she does with full conviction and not pandering to the cameras. Siavash is definately the most hirsuite ever housemate so am hoping they do the shaving off hair for alcohol task as has been on many previous series....they could get a whole off license with his hair. Kris and Sophie seem a dull pair as opposed to Sophie who has a very entertaining pair. Dull Kris should release them and let them make television gold on their own. Fearne Cotton look alike Karly so far has my vote as best of the females and should be there or thereabouts come the final. Not yet taken to the ludicrous Halfwit aka Freddie who doesn't seem to fit in with the normal housemates. All in all setting up to be quite a summer and at least something more interesting than the tennis and cricket which will be all over the television channels in the next couple of months.

Read my last reply....we can't get digital in this area (not even channel 5) I haven't even put channel 4 on since BB started. A decent film on a couple of evenings a week would be better than BB.

Films shouldn't be on terrestrial television as the dvds are cheap enough to buy. Plus the cable/digital packages are so cheap that anyone can afford them.
Anyway back on topis with the important stuff. Amazingly Halfwit remained and Angel who was hilarious got evicted. Lisa is becoming as annoying as Kris and Dogface now for not getting involved with the action. Marcus the Wolverine is funny but if you met him in a bar you wouldn't be able to resist punching him.
Strange as it seems Sree is coming across like an Indian Mr Bean and should be kept in at all costs. Charlie the gay Geordie is starting to show some signs of life. Top diva has to be Noireen although cute Karly is beginning to stamp a mark.
Quality stuff as ever

Karly (The Fearne Cotton look-a-like) is my favourite this year. Surprised the irritating but entertaining Sree went. Halfwit needs a slap and Wolverine wannabe should have been booted out for his outburst- typical cockney though. No wonder the rest of Britain despises London people the way they do.
Charlie and Rodrigo are a funny pair- in more ways than one- and could yet shape the remainder of this years event. Kris and Sophie do need to liven up. Odd as it seems Iranian Siavash is the dark horse to win this year
