To everyone on here.
No day off work for me today but tempted to head out down the pub for a couple of Carling Colds later to celebrate the occasion.

Saint George is the patron saint of Aragon, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia, as well as the cities of Amersfoort, Beirut, Bteghrine, Cáceres, Spain, Ferrara, Freiburg, Genoa, Ljubljana, Gozo, Pomorie, Qormi, Lod, and Moscow, as well as a wide range of professions, organizations, and disease sufferers. Which one are you celebrating Rich?

I didn't even realize it was St George's Day. Came and went without me knowing.

I really think more should be done in the media to promote St George's Day as it really should be acknowledged/celebrated. Everyone seems to know when Valentine's Day, Halloween, Bonfire Night and even St Patrick's Day is yet England's National day often passes by unnoticed.

Not surprising really when you consider that our international teams have to suffer the dirge of the Commonwealth anthem and don't have the blood stirring English anthem, hardly surprising English pride is so readily confined to the dumpster.

I don't know when any of the Saint's days are, I don't really take any notice of any of them. I'm not anti-English, but I'm certainly not what you would call "proud" to be English.

With yesterday's annoncement that UK Combat Operations in Iraq are to end and the troops are coming home, should April 30th be made into an Official National Holiday?

With yesterday's annoncement that UK Combat Operations in Iraq are to end and the troops are coming home, should April 30th be made into an Official National Holiday? Unlikely as we already have the first Monday in May (Plus another at the end of May) so I'm guessing any addition will be in a stretch of the year between September and November
