Right the 2008-09 is over and many Blaze fans will be looking at it as a season to forget. On paper finnishing second in the league, making the playoff semi final and having our best ever run in Europe does not equal a bad season by any means, just a disapointing season because we never won a trophy. However the performance against Nottingham this past Saturday evening for me sums up why there is so much discontent amongst the Blaze fans, every team will have bad days throughout the season, even the Grandslam team had two or three however this season there have been way to many occasions where the team just haven't seemed to turn up in the big games, at £15 a ticket the minimum the Blaze fans should expect from their team is a shift unfortunatly though they haven't always given us that. The one positive now is that the season is over, changes will be made and I have full confidence in Thommo to make the right decisions and to build a team that will give us a lot more to cheer about next season.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm quite happy with how the season went. Sure it's disappointing to finish empty handed, but it still could have been a lot worse. 2nd in the league is by no means bad.

As Thommo says - 2nd is first place for losers.
I've been really disappointed with Blaze this year. Not so much with the finish or lack of success but with it all looking so obvious when the roster was being assembled and the lack of change when it needed to be made.
The singing of Perras was sheer madness!
Thommo will learn from his mistakes and providing we have a budget that is roughly equal to that of Sheffield/Nottingham Thommo will deliver the title to it's rightful place.

The singing of Perras was sheer madness! I'd say it was more a big risk rather than madness. Perras played well for Edinburgh and had potential to be great for us, unfortunately it didn't turn out that way.

He played well against us but when I saw him as a neutral he was much as he was with us - OK but no big games, no big saves and zero chance of back stopping a championship winning team.

The big three arena teams will have a greater budget going in I'm sure as in these credit crunch times the bigger animals will survive the jungle better. Blaze will be relying on sponsors and fans putting their hands in their pockets more than ever this upcoming season so dig deep guys.
2008/09 was a poor season in quality. Too many performances where the opposition wanted to win more culminating in the humiliation in the play off semi finals
