After about ten minutes last night I was expecting to come on here today and post about how Calder isn't the same player he used to be, how Danny Stewart is a waste of space and how bad our d is without LeClair. OK while some of what I just posted might be true you can't criticise the Blaze efforts last night. A great fightback against the league leaders, earning us a point in an entertaining game that other than the first 10 minutes we fully matched them in. Still plenty to play for this season so don't give up on the Blaze yet.

Comments coming from those who went to Nottingham suggest otherwise

I obviously wasn't at the Nottingham game. My origional post refers to the performance in the home game against Sheffield.

The positive side - we at least got a point!! (It is better than a kick in the teeth!)

We stank the place out in Nottingham!
But i agree Rich, we were OK on sunday night. Calder definately needs the "C" taken off him. He can't produce points as well as pretending to be the captain!

If the luck had gone our way, we could have won the match on sunday. Two goals disallowed, we had a number of shots that went close, and Jody had his best game that i've seen him play in. And at least we got a point, which didn't seem possible after the first 10 mins.

Jody had his best game that i've seen him play in. Another great point, we know from the three seasons that Jody played for us and from the three seasons he has been playing against us, Jody is a big game player. Sunday he produced yet another big game performance. Did he get Steelers Man Of The Match? No doubt in my mind that he was a contender.

(And yes, he somehow did get their MoM)

I'm sure he made more than one save in the entire game? Either way the game was level after regulation time, had it not been for that one good save you mentioned Blaze may well have picked up the victory

There's no doubt about it that Jody is a quality goalie. If you offered me the choice of ANY goalie in the elite league, it'd be Jody everytime! Yes, i rate him that highly.

And if Kelman didnt go for revenge (after some hand bags in front of the Steelers net) on finnerty behind Perras' net leaving his player(can't remember who) free in front, missing his check leaving finnerty free to pass to the man infront, from behind and goal!!

Two lapses in the first few minutes saw the team wake up and suddenly remember what a team effort can give you........obviously a win would have been great but the way you win or lose is a real test of players ability and mind set. It might yet be too late for it to make a difference to the league but if that is the way that the team is going to play all the time then we can make it difficult for anyone. Well done to the players and also to the spectators who at the end witnessed an exciting game and who for once supported even a loss.
