Female achievement may not have been as grand but who put their stomp on the year and got people talking?

Have to laugh when in the male equivlent of this thread we have a man who has been elected USA President, a football manager who has become a champion of England, Europe and the World and a swimmer who won seven Olympic Gold medals. In this thread we have the winner of X-Factor and the Big Brother winner. Interesting comparison. Going to vote for Rebecca Adlington for her incredible achievements in Beijing, shes a fantastic role model for athletes young and old.

Would she have won so much if her nose hadn't taken up half of the pool? ;D Alex got my vote as a genuine star that was knocked back but knuckled down worked hard and it set to become a mega star.

Yes Alex is set to become a maga star, but she isn't there yet. An early favourite for next year though.

Alex has been born with a great voice the amount of commitment Rebecca will have given to be the best in the world in her chosen field is special.

Yeah and because she is so young she will be able to train even harder and come back even stronger for the 2012 olympics!

I have a feeling that the 2012 Olympics will pass her by. Just a hunch

By the way didn't Michael Phelps beat Mark Spitz's record of 7 golds?

By the way didn't Michael Phelps beat Mark Spitz's record of 7 golds? Yes my mistake. He won eight gold medals in Beijing and has won 16 Olympic medals in total, 14 Gold and 2 Bronze.
