Cloutier's replacement?

Our last remaining signing and could be apart from the netminder the most important signing of the summer. I say this because, not only is this guy supposedly going to a first line winger, but he is also replacing Cloutier. The fact that he is replacing Cloutier says to me that he needs to have a few qualities. These qualities should include; experience, a degree of leadership, gritty, toughness, good in the corners, good on the fore-check, a good passer... anyway the list goes on!

In all fairness Thommo isn't going to find a replacement in the exact same mould as Cloutier as he was an awesome player, leader and had massive respect from all around the league, all those qualities are just what I could see on the ice and I'm pretty sure that he would have also been immense in the locker room.

The thing is though, Cloutier was on paper down as being in a Blaze jersey next year, until two weeks ago when that changed, so the new guy will have to possess a good deal of the qualities stated to ensure that the roster still has the balance that Thommo clearly wanted.

Thommo says he ideally wants someone that knows the league. I think it will be Deschalets or Dutiaume. I'd be quite happy with either of those guys, but would prefer to see someone come from outside the league.

So anyone got any ideas?

I cant see Dutiaume coming to Coventry, Deschalets however I could. Clouts was one of if not the most influential players in the league. I think this will be one of the most important signings Thommo has/will ever make. The hardest part of this as a Blaze fan is that this could more or less make or break our season. I understand one player doesnt make a team, but still the impact he had on the bench, ice and locker room is incomprehendable. From what I know all the signings have been made, thats contracts signed and sealed, the team is planned to start pre season this week or next. Its just a question who had Thommo signed? It will be very interesting to see what the next few days brings in the world of the Coventry Blaze!

it is indeed Deschatelets, which in my opinion is a great replacement, yeah i'm sure alot of people will say they want clouts leadership but the new #21 for blaze scored more points than cloutier last season in a devils side, so think what he could do in a blaze one.

i'm happy with this signing as he is a versatile forward that can play centre and wing as well as bringing a bit of size
