The new Batman film is out this Friday 'The Dark Knight' and it is being hyped to a maximum 5/5 rating. Heath Ledger, who died in January plays the roll of the joker. Looks really good, who's all going to see this one then?

Saw this the other day. Good movie, very good movie. But, Heath Ledger as The Joker......nearly ruined it for me. Less evil maniac, more fumbling idiot who can't remember his lines. (No doubt he could, but that just how it came across to me. The movie would be an hour shorter if he didn't pause between every other word.) He certainly didn't come across as menacing, I was almost laughing most the time he was on screen. All this Oscar talk is pathetic, and not deserved. No where near an Oscar winning performance. (Although knowing the Academy I wouldn't be surprised if he did win, or at least get nominated. That's why I no longer take any notice of who wins what at that awards show)
The rest were great, especially Aaron Eckhart. Bale, Cain, Oldman and of course Freeman were all brilliant as usual.
Now, who does deserve an Oscar for this film is Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard for the score. Best movie soundtrack this year so far.
Certainly worth seeing, but don't believe all the hype.

Absolutely loved it. More classic comic style mixed with 21st century realism than the dark brooding of Batman Begins. Personally I thought Heath Ledger has now surpassed Ceaser Romero & Jack Nicholson with the greatest performance of the Joker. Particularly thought the scene with him dressed as a nurse was a scream ;D The make up for Two Face was superb. Best film of the year  |
