In the defence of Jody and all netminders I'd like to point out how difficult it is for them. A forward could have 10 shots, spoon 9 of them but score the game winning goal and be the hero. A netminder could have an outstanding game, save everything that comes at him but make one mistake and be the villian.
Anyway to keep this thread on topic, I stick by what I say, Wade's strength and Neal's clever play make a great partnership.

Here's the question then, Is the Wade/Neal partnership more dominant (Pro rata given the different leagues) than the Moby/Shudra one of two years ago. Taking into account the quality they were up against I would say this years dynamic duo eclipse the past

Cracking question, that's really got me thinking....
It's a tough one because i think my answer is No they aren't as dominant as Shudra/Moborg, but Martin/Belak is a stronger partnership without a doubt...

Good question Wade/neal v Moby/Ron . We had a full season to appreciate the latter and they were awesome but i would have to sway to our current Brains and brawn pairing.
Float like a butterfly (Neal) Sting like a Bee (Wade)

Yes. I agree that Wade & Neal just eclipse Moby & Ron. I still have not seen a better partnership in the Elite League this season or any other!.
On Jody....He is absolutely on fire now and he is playing so well that it is a surprise when we concede a goal.
How many shots did Sheffield & Nottingham have at the weekend for a meagre 2 goals combined.
Also, I think Wade is the best clearer of the front of the net than anyone I have seen in British Ice Hockey. This gives Jody a clear look at the shots coming in and if Jody is not screened, he will keep saving them.
Must also say that Peasy, Josef and Dougie are also playing very well.

I'd go for Moby and the Rocket-the reason being that they both knew, or seemed to know, purely by instinct where on the ice the other was, at any given moment-Martin has been in yards of space on many occasions this season and has not profited from a pass from Belak, who has preferred to feed the forwards for a possible centring pass/shot rather than a clear shot on goal from the blue-line. To some degree Neal is allowed to show his hockey brain and skill by the looming presence of Wade behind him-Shudra and Moborg both did so every shift despite numerous attempts by the opposition to rough them up, both being not the biggest of d-men. If Moby was here this season, we would see him likely paired with Schueller (who has been one of this season's unsung heroes along with his partner Lukac-as a pair they're possibly better than the two mentioned above) and his composure and skill would be given an even more supportive environment than that given in the BNL season-the supposed step-up in skill would be negligible given the gulf between Moby and most of the other BNL d-men with whom he was competing...Moby could easily be a big player at Elite League level IMO...

Talk of Moby stepping up to Elithe League level (Bit of a no brainer really) makes me wonder who Steve O'Brien might augment the defensive pairings this year. Whom would be his best partner to form a dream double act or are there two better than him?
Over to you lot ;D

IMO Ron and Moby were a great partnership in the BNL, they could possibly do a job in the elite league but they wouldn't be a dominant pairing. Wade and Neal do dominate, they are totally different styles of player but thats what helps them. With the elite league, there is such a big range in the type of players that you face in terms of speed, size and strength and you need to cope well with all aspects. I don't think that Ron and Moby would cope so well and would be exposed at times where Neal and Wade aren't. One possible way to compare would be to look at the ISL challenge cup games that Ron and Moby played, they were fairly good but teams did expose tham at times. Neal and Wade however, would probably be a top line pairing in the old ISL.
