If I was to wager which player would definately stay next year, my first bet would be Jody

I do hope McNamara and Martin return next season, not just because my friend likes McNamara, but because they are brilliant players. I realise though that players may want to move on and develop in other teams or maybe even retire. We should appreciate them while they are here, and be proud that they played for Coventry, especially Andre and Jody. I do hope the majority stay though, but of course economics comes into it with contracts, etc and whether they have performed consistently well for Thommo to consider taking them on again. Lets hope hey.
Does anyone know when the average age is that ice hockey players retire? Also what sort of the jobs they go onto? I know Thommo use to be a player himself before injury cut it short. It would be excellent to find out the players POV of their time on the team, and any plans for the future, rather than rumours. What does everyone else think?

Strangely enough I was having this conversation with my fiancee at the game last night. Our thoughts were: Wade Belak - Wouldn't have thought so unless maybe the Lock out continues Doug Schueller - No Neal Martin - Yes, apparently on a 3 year course at Cov Uni Andre - No apparently has an offer too good to refuse in Canada Little Pavol - Yep, possibly already signed for next season. I hope so he is an asset to our team Schlender - Yes Russ - Yes Tommy - No feel he might go to Newcastle or such likes as aparently isn't very happy at the blaze this year. Ashley - Not my favourite person ever but I fear he will still be hear for our brit count Peasey - Yes, well hope so he has really picked up his game this season Adam - Probably not DC - Think he will stay seems to like the style of play as it suits his game Joel - JOel will retire here and then still turn up every week Mr Coventry Blaze IMO. Jody - No I think we will have a really great foreign keeper next year Dan shea - Not sure Chrissy Mac - No he is rumoured to be retiring BT - Possibly if he doesn't go to a lower league team for more ice time Josef Lukac - Hope so he is another player who has improved his game every week since joining the Blaze would love to have him back next year. I also think that Adam Brittle and Tom Carlon may make the transition into fully contracted Blaze players next year. I thought Adam played really well last night and his speed just amazes me! Could do with a bit more meat on him though!!

Last year in a Powerplay article Jody expressed his wish to play 3 or 4 more seasons in the UK before calling it a day. He also said that he has found a club he is happy with and saw no reason to move. I for one hope this is right. I can see of the imports Joel, Shlends & Schueller being the most likely to remain. I also believe that Joel will be here for a good many years yet- maybe another Frenchie type run?
Adam & Dan whilst I hope would stay I'm not fully convinced they will. Wade and Andre have big money contracts awaiting them. Pavol would be a good bet to return. Jozef certainly hasn't done his chances any harm The rumours on Neal Martin go from the extremes. Hope the 3 year uni course keeps him around. Chrissy Mac- I haven't heard anything further than the rumours of his retirement
Of the Brits, I would expect Ashley to return for sure and would be reasonably certain Peasey, Russ and Tom Watkins would too. Tom has had a difficult year but is the sort of player every team needs and every team notices when they're not there. The likes of BT, Tom Carlon and Adam Brittle will continue to make great strides and a lot will rest upon potential import quotas with the new umbrella system (?) to be possibly in place as to their destination next year

I would say, player-by-player: Belak: Not a snowball's chance in hell, unless the lock-out continues and he settles here... Schueller: Hope so-he has been quietly immense on the blue-line Martin: Money is the factor here-if he is happy in the Skydome, then the rumoured big money offers from the likes of Sheffield and the DEL may be in vain-let's hope... Payette: I doubt it-money in Canada and (possibly) his personality may count against it. Hopefully not though. Mihalik: Very likely. Brittle: Definitely-perhaps on a two-way-he has caught my eye when he's played. Schlender: See Mihalik... Carlon: See Brittle Cowley: The new Tait-he could be in a Blaze shirt for some time. Lukac: Has come in, and added to an already excellent team-what could he do with a settled season? Watkins: Hmmm... Tait: Captain again? Maybe if he hoists a trophy this season. Pease: Definitely. Calder: Money again-but being one of the top scorers in the EIHL will help his cause if he's not greedy. Carlson: He seems to love it here. Could be here a while... McNamara: If there's a hockey God, he'll stay... Poirier: The heir to Frenchie's throne. Lehman: May...be... Shea: Almost assured after his fine performances when called upon this season. Williams: The new Cowley? He will push for a third-line spot next season.

mcnamara said at he bowling night that he was coming back to cov uni next year. Hope that's right but sometimes I get the feeling we fans are told what we would like to hear regarding the future. And anyway Thommo might have a completely different gameplan for next season
