I am sure most people on this forum will be in Nottingham on Wednesday but for anybody that can't make it there is going to be live commentary on BBC WM 94.8. The first ice hockey match ever to be broadcast live on radio in Coventry.

Problem is, if the games become regular on the radio will some people stay away to listen at home

They should just have the Saturday away matches on the radio because I am sure most fans that travel away would still travel away anyway because they like the atomosphere of being at the game as well as the ice hockey itself.

Problem is, if the games become regular on the radio will some people stay away to listen at home It happens. Coverage on radio will get more people into the sport though. At the moment though i would guess that if we do get more coverage it's only going to be in Cup and Playoff games which people definatly will travel to so i don't think it's a major concern just at the moment. Oh and... OFFTOPIC: (Footie question) Will next seasons abolision of the Saturday 3pm TV blackout effect attendances at football?

I wonder if they will have fans phone in after the match like they do with the football. I might try ringing them up after the game to give my opinion.

I hear that Simmsy is helping with the commentary. Should be fun to hear what he says about our team of thugs!! ;D

For all his 'controversial' comments, hes probabily the best radio commentator in the UK IMO
Sounds a cracking game!!

Judging by the mailing list the radio bradcast sounded a complete success. Love the quotes attributed to Simmsy too

Shame the B2P didn't make it onto the radio broadcast Well we did indirectly if you think of where the crowd noise came from

Did anyone listen to Sports Talk tonight? Maybe they gave Blaze a bit more coverage than usual as we're in the final, although its been a big day for City too so they might not of.
