BLAZE BRING IN LUKAC
The ‘High and Mighty’ Coventry Blaze have signed a new defenceman on a trial basis following the injury to Pavol Mihalik.
Mihalik was injured in last week’s game against Sheffield Steelers and has had surgery on his injured shoulder.
In his place comes fellow countryman Jozef Lukac, who has just been released by Basingstoke Bison to make way for former Coventry defenceman Steve Gallace.
Lukac, who aged 24, is 6ft 1ins and weighs 203 pounds, played 30 games for Basingstoke, scoring three goals and registering one assist. He will train with the Blaze this week and will play in this weekend’s games in Cardiff and at home to Nottingham on a trial basis, and stands to gain a longer deal after those matches.
Blaze head coach Paul Thompson said: “When he played the Blaze he looked very solid and this is why I am giving him the opportunity to show me what he can do over the weekend. If he performs to the standard that I think is required then he will be offered a contract.”<br>
