It's an awesome place, expensive but an amazing holiday.
As for info, your best to buy like 5-day park passes. Make sure you get to Universal Studios. A hire car is pretty necessary IMO and a villa's a good idea if your going in a group.

Been there twice with family. Both times we stayed at Quality Inn plaza, on International Drive, its a 3 star hotel with 3 swimming pools. You can always stay at the Disney Hotels of course. There loads of restaurants so you don't need to worry about food. I would say go to the main attractions FIRST, because you might spend all your money on other things, and find little spending money at the end of the holiday. And enjoy your holiday.

I think were staying at the travelodge on International Drive. Any ideas of prices for theme parks, looking forward to Wet n Wild.

Universal Studios is good, go to the big upside down house on International drive right next to Quality Inn Plaza. We also went to Kennedy Space Centre but its more of an edcuational visit, so its up to you if you like that sort of thing.
The 2nd time we went we did some more "American" things, so we went shopping for a day at the mall.
You might want to go to Dolly Partons Dixie Stampede as well.
No idea about prices though, but best ask at your travel agents.

been there 5 times, and had a villa out there for 4 years, it all depends on how long your going for. ticket wise i would recomment the 5 park olrando flexi ticket and the 5 day disney hopper pass
the flexi ticket gets you into both universals, sea world, wet n wild and busch gardens and last for 14 days from the 1st use
the disney ticket gives you 5 days at the main parks and 4 days at the water parks
on both tickets you can hop between the parks and still only use up one day and you dont have to pay to park at a 2nd park on the same day

If you like theme parks , make the effort to get over to Tampa and Busch Gardens, they have proper rollercoasters there. If you are hiring a car its a comfortable trip to make there and back in the day.
Not one or two great rides like at Disney parks etc but 4 or 5
Best water park ride is Das Bomber at Wet and Wild , climb into a rocket , attendant pushes the button and the bottom falls out of rocket and you drop. I might be a grown man but I screamed and screamed

Cheers for the replies, always nice to read.
What's Orlando like for getting around, i.e we don't have our own transport so what's the public transport like?
cockroaches/lizards, are they as common over there as what some people have been telling me? I'm not all that bothered about them but i'd rather the place wasn't plastered with them like i've heard?
If you could only go to one of the major theme parks/resorts...what would get your vote as a MUST?
Thanks!

Never saw a cockroaches or a lizard once in my two visits there.
Magic Kingdom. Its Mickey Mouses house.
As for public transport I don't know. Like everyone else I would advice you to use a hire car. If you don't drive though, I'd imagine the public transport to disney is quite good.

Taking notes.
Given my new income that should equate to a nice penny or three out there in the good ole U.S. of A ;D
