5 years after that day, what are your memories of the day.

I was at school when it happened, everyone was saying about it but I was just like 'nah never'!
Then I got home and switched on sky news and was devastated.

I was in Kardamena (Kos) watching the 7th series of Friends in a bar with the propreitor desperately waiting for it to finish so he could switch over to CNN. I recall that it was the only topic of conversation for obvious reasons that day and it bridges the gap of holiday makers who would normally be going out getting mullered.
My insight to international politics was helpful in suggesting early on who could have been behind it. Original suggestions were of some internal militia a la Timothy McVeigh of the Michigan mob who was responsible for the Oklahoma blast in the mid 90s. I was the first to mention the most wanted terrorist that few had heard of before that day of Osama Bin Laden. given the geographical location of Kos many were worried about the political affiliation of Turkey what with it being largely muslim although saner minds prevailed on that once to scotch thoughts of a naval fleet attacking the Greek islands the following day.

I was at work watching it on a Rover 75 TV screen that we had rigged up on a desk. There must have been fifty people crowded round a four inch screen in shocked silence.
I think everbody in the place thought it was some kind of terrible accident until the second plane confirmed it wasnt.

I just remember getting home from school and the same thing being on every channel. Both BBC channels, ITV, Channel 4, Five, Sky News, ITV News, the German channel I had at the time, CNN and any other news services you can think off. That was when i realised something major had happened so I looked at Ceefax to find out exacly what and the news index was dominated by it. Even the radio commentary a bit later on for Peterborough V Cov City kept getting interupeted by news updates.

I was at my parent's hpuse when we got a phone call from my sister to turn on the news. A plane had crashed into one of the towers of the world trade centre and just after we switched on, the second plane hit the other tower. I have never been so shocked befor or since
