Finished Past Mortem and was hugely impressed at yet another superb Ben Elton whodunnit. Each time I thought I knew the answer there was a twist which kept up the guessing till right near the end. Definite recommend to anyone who likes mystery type stories.
Started to read Blast From The Past by the same author and although good I have to say it is the weakest of the 4 titles of his I have read so far

Enjoyed first casualty by Ben Elton, but enjoyed Gridlock more. currently reading Brandenburg by Henry Porter, a thriller based in the last days of East Germany , a good read one I would recommend. As for sports books, the best I have read is the Miracle of Castell de Sangra ( spelling may be a bit out) the true story of a very small Italian side that gets promoted to Serie B, a great read , feel you are supporting the team through the season, just make sure you don't look at the final tables etc at the back.
If you like travel books , I can recommend Alexandra Frater in particular chasing the Monsoon and travels around the South Pacific.
Theroux Dark star safari, is also a fantastic read, detailing Louis' father traveling the length of Africa without flying.
Matthew Paris - Inca Cola , a journey around Peru is also a book I cant recommend highly enough
Autobiography that is an excellent read but a bit bizarre is one called Amadeus about an Italian Army Officer who led the last cavalry charge in modern warfare during the second World War in Ethiopia, if you are going on holiday and want something a bit different take this one.

Blast From The Past was slow going but finished nicely.
Currently reading The Brotherhood Affair by A.K. Roberton (Not an author I've heard of). It's an adventure thriller written from the perspective of the subject which I must admit is a style I prefer least.
Quite like the thriller/crime/whodunnit based novels though as they do keep the mind ticking

I read 3 books while I was away Shock I know. Can remember what two were called but they were both thriller books. The other one was called Stone Cold by John Francome. It was really good, actually so good I read all 200 odd pages at once (on the beach ) Fair enough it was to do with racing so it probably won't be manys cup of tea, but it everything in it, fraud, murders, supposedly fixed races and also told the pressures of the media on jockeys.

A bit like Kieron Fallons police statement

As been off for another week have gotten through the following;
Over and Under by Matt Coward A dull whodunnit which made no sense and suffered from too much unnecessary padding
The Legend Of Planet Of The Apes For fans of the series this wasn't bad but way too heavy on the aborted project side of the initial film
Currently reading a good biopic of the Second World War which comes across as incredibly balanced

Reading a ton of horse magazines... good thing actually cause I just read that if you don't take your horse's passport with you when you go out and about to shows etc you can go to prison or get a very heavy fine! Hmmm, might need to find that passport lol. Not my fault though, never knew that.

Do horses have to sit in those little Photo-me-boothes for their passport photo?
