Given that we have a pretty diverse section of people here, and this is more of a "general" forum then just a hockey forum, then this thread can be used as a simple advice thread...if anyone has problems they need help with-or just fancies a chat on something romance or life-issue related, then this thread is open...and there's a fair few people on here who are willing to listen and give advice...
As BT used to say...it's good to talk...fire away, and you can bet there'll be someone at the Dragon's Den Advice Centre who will help...
To set the general discussion off....how important is "romance" as a concept to you?

With incredible timing I got the following as an e-mail at work today. Basically it is an "out of the mouths of babies" type response to the question What is love?
***************************************************
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 >year-olds, > > "What does love mean?" > > > The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have >imagined. See what you think: > >----------------------------------------------------------------------------
> "When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint >her toenails anymore.
> So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands >got arthritis too. That's love." > > Rebecca- age 8 > > "When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. > > You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." > > Billy - age 4 > "Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving >cologne and they go out and smell each other."
> Karl - age 5 > "Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French >fries without making them give you any of theirs." > > Chrissy - age 6
> "Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
> Terri - age 4 > > "Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip >before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." > > Danny - age 7 > > "Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of >kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. >> My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss!"
> Emily - age 8
> > "Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening >presents and listen." > > Bobby - age 7 (Wow!) > > "If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend >who you hate."
> Nikka - age 6
> (We need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)
"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt; then he wears it everyday."
Noelle - age 7
"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still >friends even after they know each other so well." > > Tommy - age 6 > > "During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked >at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. > He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore." > > Cindy - age 8 >> "My mommy loves me more than anybody! You don't see anyone else >kissing me to sleep at night." > > Clare - age 6 > "Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken." > > Elaine-age 5 > > "Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is >handsomer than Brad Pitt ." > > Chris - age 7 > > "Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone >all day." > > Mary Ann - age 4 > > "I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old >clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." > > Lauren - age 4 > > "When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little >stars come out of you." > > (What an image!) > Karen - age 7
"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you >mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." > Jessica - age 8
And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.
The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said:
"Nothing, I just helped him cry."

A thing that really irritates me; people who stir things up to make gossip, even though they know nothing what so ever.
How do you resolve that...i don't think you can?

lovely renditions of love Steve thanks for sharing that You're welcome. Funny the way innocent children view life. I can't imagine adults coming up with answers like that

I remember being on holiday in Cornwall when I was at the club on the campsite, the entertainer invited loads of kids onto the stage and spoke to them about random stuff, I found some of the stuff they came out with quite funny. They were making more sense than what adults sometimes do. It was just the no nonsense way they were saying the things that made me laugh.
By the way my last post on this thread was only mean't to be a joke. I apologise for the fact that the post I made reference to appears to have been edited for what I said.

Well, having been on the other end of it...you can't. You have to be a big boy and live with it. Although-you're not telling me that you haven't ever indulged in a bit of stirring...or having conversations with third parties/parents about things you're not fully aware of and are indeed no business of yours... People are easily led...and are only too willing to comment about people or things they know nothing about-in order to fit in with the majority.

Somebody sent me this today, i thought it was lovely enough to put it on here - enjoy! ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other. THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want. FOUR. When you say, "I love you," mean it. FIVE. When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye. SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married. SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight. EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much. NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely. TEN.. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling. ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives. TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly. THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?" FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk. FIFTEEN. Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze. SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: R espect for self; Respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions. EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship. NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it. TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice. TWENTY-ONE. Spend some time alone.
