Brilliant news. I was to nervous to watch the announcement so I went out. Fair play to all the people involved in our bid and all the people who backed it. As well as it being a great bid the professionalism was fantastic, especially the way nobody retaliated to Jacques Chirac's claims about British food and other subtle digs from the French. 2012 I can't wait.

Can't stand the frogs but am not exactly jumping for joy about this.
How will it be paid for? - Taxes?
Also the capital seems to thing it is the only part of Britain worth bothering about. Personally I would rather have a World Cup here as at least it is spread out a bit
I won't attend it live so it makes no difference to me if it is Landan or Timbuktoo
The football will be played at Ashburton Grove and the shooting will take place in Brixton
The gold medal will be replaced by a burberry one
The traffic will clog up the roads horrendously (No change there then)
