Preston have made it through to the play off final where they will meet West Ham in a re-run of the 1964 F.A. Cup Final. But what links that 1964 final to the ones in 1980 and 2004?
I'll be surprised if anyone gets this quickly

this is a bit of a guess... but is it these years that 4th place and 6th place have played each other in the final?

Is the question what links the playoff final in them years or what links the FA Cup Final?
If it is the FA Cup Final could the answer that in all 3 of them years a club from outside the top flight made the final? Just a guess but I know Millwall made it last year.

Lower division teams made the finals in 1992, 1982 and 1976 but the above three have a unique property about them. Also Preston vs West Ham in 1964 was an all top flight final.
And to answer Kate the question relates to the F.A. Cup final and not the play offs

Is it that the losing team in each final was 3rd in the league. 1964: Preston 2 v 3 West Ham Preston finished 3rd
1980: West Ham 1 v 0 Arsenal Arsenal finished 3rd
2004: Millwall 0 v 3 Man utd. Man utd finished 3rd
