All the servers on ProBoards are beiing upgraded with in the next week or so, this means that at somepoint during this time, the forum will not be accesible. It should only be for 24 hours however could be more.
This also means that the forum could be a little slow over the next week or so as the main server is getting more traffic than its used too.
Just letting everyone know so you don't think it is a problem.

Will there be any noticeable differences on the forums following the upgrades? Like, will they be adding new features to the forums?

I not sure exactly what they are doing. I think as they are only updating the servers the only difference will be that the forum should be abit faster to load etc.
I will try and find out if there will be any other changes though.

A whole day without the Blaze Forum. What am I going to do with myself?

I've read through all the changes that will be happening to the forum and I've picked out the main ones that will affect members:
1. In addition to member groups, users will be able to have their own custom title.
2. You can choose whether you want to see signatures/avatars when viewing threads.
3. You may choose to not receive any emails from the board administrators (mass emails will not send you mail).
4. Birthday will become a required field in the profile, as we do not allow users under the age of 13.
5. The top posters page is no longer limited to 1 page. You can view all pages to see where all members rank in terms of posts.
6. Members will be able to add entries to the calendar.
7. The maximum number of options in a poll is increasing from 8 to 30.
8. Report to moderator link will be displayed at the bottom of posts. Moderators will have quick access to view any posts that have been reported by users.
9. At last, users will be able to upload an attachment from their computer to posts.
10. A new "hide category" option will be available which will make any category marked as hidden not show up in the list of categories, and all boards inside that category will be hidden.
11. When viewing the threads on a board, you will be able to click on the number of replies. Doing so will popup a small window showing which users have participated in the thread and how many posts each person has made.
12. All users will now be able to go into invisible mode. Administrators and Global Moderators will be able to see these users as online.
13. If Steph approves we will also be introducing the "karma" function...

What does it mean by having your own custom title and the Karma addition? It would be good to report bad posts, hide AVS as the pictures don't always show up anyway, add birthdays to the calender and attach photos to posts *breathes*

Yeah it's way too much effort for us to add birthdays to the calendar... we did a few last year, and it doesn't keep them on for the next year, so members can just add their own I think it will say "today's birthdays" on the home page anyway, like the Elite Forum. I don't think your custom title replaces your member group, I think you can just put a few words underneath it, kind of like the "Personal Text" feature we have at the moment. I don't want to say much about the karma thing until Steph OK's it. Though somebody else will probably know and say.

Double-post but meh, I'm allowed. So the forum was down yesterday, and it's back up today.... and it's not any different. What gives?

I thought that. Couldn't see any noticable difference

Ugh, I've never had ProBoards down as the best hosts. I'll have to find out what's going on...
Edit Turns out that the updating of servers 21-27 is delayed until next week, and we use server number 27, so we'll have to wait a few more days for our lovely new features.

Who knows
One of my other forums has been updated already. It's pretty cool, although there aren't that many differences, it is still an improvement.
