Dam. That means an English team guaranteed in the Champions League final which will most probably mean a big increase in plastic fans. Theres enough of them about all ready. Hopefully Chelski beat Liverpool because there are slightly less plastic Cockneys than there are plastic Scousers. Also they have grown on me a bit due to them having a very entertaining manager, three key England players and Wayne Bridge who is a potential England superstar and also Robben who is quality to watch even though he is Dutch.

Although i support UNITED, i'd like to see Liverpool win it...over Chelsea at least!

Meelan will win the whole thing though beating Chelski in the final. Best ever European final was Rotterdam in 1982  |

I'm sure the best European Final ever COULD have been in 1988, but due to some Scousers behaving badly the team that COULD have made the 1988 Cup Winners Cup final great wern't there because English sides had been banned  |

Well City had conquered the domestic cup competition the previous year so whose to say they couldn't have conqured Europe. Afterall I am sure the gap between the big clubs and the not so big clubs wasn't as big back then.
Shame about Newcastle. Watched the first half tonight. Dyer was running the show, Bowyer was playing like a donkey but things looked good for the Geordies. I came online at half-time, planned to go and watch the second half but got carried away, then checked teletext and found they had been knocked out.

Did a bit of research for you Rich and found that the 1988 European Cup Winners Cup Winners were Mechelen. A mediocre Belgian side who got a lucky entry into the competition and were relegated a few seasons later
