So come on, who is everyone betting on and why? Im going Clan Royal because he likes the predicted ground, and hes in better form than he was last year, and if he got 2nd last year... who knows what he could do this year! (Hopefully win! )

The Chief would love it if Astonville won ;D
Not sure on Hedgehunter Impressed on the strong possibilities of Strong Resolve Clan Royal does have good trainer/jockey combo so worth a flutter Longshanks is capable of going the distance but not sure if it's a winner Totally rule out Amerleigh House, Montys Pass and Bindaree as ex winners do not ever win again (Red Rum excepted of course) Good outside tip would be Colonel Rayburn Also L'Aventure is worth a couple of quid
My National record is quite good although I tend to spend £30 on a number of horses but usually get more than I put on- apart from two years ago when i got exactly £30 back

I've bet once on the National...on my last trip to a finals weekend at the NIC. ISL Finals 2002/03, Red Marauder, 33/1...and the bugger won! Might have to have a stake on this years National... A quid each on Nil Desperandum, Forest Gunner and Bindaree for me, I think...depending on the odds might go for a few more. I take it we'll be nipping down to Ladbrokes on the Saturday on the way to the NIC, Whiskey?

Forget Bindaree as an ex winner mate. I am getting into town early to hit the bookies at half 9 which gives me an hour before the coach goes.
Did think about Forest Gunner but it appears out of form
Incidentally Red Marauder won in 2001 (Not last ISL finals {2003} that was Montys Pass remember me trying to find a bookies to claim the win) I won over £100 on that one wth odds of 33-1 with a £4 stake

Red Rum, Red Marauder and Red Alligator ;D
On a side note, ive had an inside tip (which i probably shouldn't have said but hey!) That Strong Resolve is in very good condition and going great on the gallops.
As for peoples National records, mine is pants believe it or not!! Last year, me and my uncle (another racing fanatic) spent ages studying the horses whereas everyone else in my family just basically closed their eyes and picked. My cousin came 1st, aunty 2nd, mum 3rd and brother 4th. Mine was brought down and my uncles pulled up. Just shows that a lot in the National can be down to luck.

Everyone fogets Red Alligator so well done Strong Resolve will be the one to watch if the going gets heavy with bad weather, providing he can keep clear of the pack of horses making up the numbers. At this point I'm as excited about the national as that hockey match we have tomorrow ;D
