Excluding hockey & Boxing/fighting sports (For obvious reasons) yesterdays scrap between Bowyer and Dyer team mates at Newcastle (Who lost 3-0 to Villa by the way ;D) made all the headlines due to it being proper fisticuffs and not the usual handbags.
I have seen an old video from the mid 1970s of Franny Lee & Norman Hunter with "proper punches" being thrown.
From time to time at rugby proper scraps take place including one corker at the Butts Stadium this year.
From time to time the guys in leather at speedway have been known to swap punches
But what is the best red mist scrap in a sport where fighting isn't a regular part of it?
Over to you

Two from this season: Indiana Pacers vs (I believe) Detroit Pistons in this years NBA, in which chairs were thrown by both players and the audience. At each other.
Also baseball has its fair share of scraps-Alex Rodriguez and Jason Varitek of the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees-the Red Sox catcher Varitek trash-talking Yankees hitter Rodriguez to such an extent that AR spun round and walloped Varitek, causing a 23 man brawl.

Normally a few fights a season in baseball, specially between Red Sox and Yankees. Huge rivalry there.

Another nice scrap between team mates from the 1995/96 Champions League in which Blackburn Rovers were competing for the first (and only) time in their history! Well, they had been drawn in the same group as Spartak Moscow (Russia), Legia Warsaw (Poland), and Rosenborg (Norway) and in theory should have walked the group but had quite a lot of difficulty losing 4 of the 6 games, drawing 1 of them and finally winning in the last game 4-1 at home against Rosenborg. Anyway, i'm babbling on here, i'll get to the point. Because they were expected to win with ease, the players started to feel the pressure, and during the game away in Moscow, which they lost 3-0, David Batty and Graeme Le Saux had a minor disagreement and started trading blows with each other, before being torn apart by other team mates and some bemused Russians!! The whole thing started because as Le Saux was running down the wing, Batty stuck his leg out and tripped him up (accidentally), to which Le Saux took offence and "dropped the gloves".
Pretty funny really, and i can remember it as if it was yesterday...........well you have to hang on to these memories when you support a yo-yo team like i do!!
**i apologise for banging on**

Both the weekends punch up and the punch up between the Le Saux and Batty were amongst players playing for teams captained by Alan Shearer. Ironic as he is probably the most honest professional in the game and he was first to criticise Dyer and Bowyer after Saturday.
Not a fight as such but who remembers the legendary Richard Shaw getting that French fella sent off just over ten years ago and the French guy taking his frustration out on a Cyrstal Palace fan by kung fu kicking him.
