Indeed...it is anyway.
As for the official position-the reason GSTQ is played at Blaze games irrespective of the opposition is because it's the British EIHL, and therefore the British anthem (GSTQ) is used...if I played LOHAG I'd get in all sorts of trouble. Wales is a principality, and therefore is technically a country in its own right, thus entitled to the playing of its anthem.
I can't help thinking, however, that if English people were as proud of being English as the other UK nations are of their identity, then the playing of an 'English' national anthem wouldn't be an issue. Perhaps it would be better if no anthem at all was played-as I believe happens in Belfast due to the non-sectarian principles of the Giants...

Incidentally to answer a previous question Edward Elgar did make such a recommendation but he has been brown bread for ages and LOHAG has been used for English success in previous Commonwealth Games. And PW yes Wales is a principality and (Rightly) has its own anthem. Fair enough. What about the Scots then? Should they be allowed Flower of Scotland which is in someways a manufactured anthem in comparison. As a proud Englishman I don't feel I should compromise my nationality for the PC brigade who associate it with being extreme right wing. And as a non-supporter of the monarchy will never stand to attention in an appropriate manner for GSTQ (Notice how I always chat, whistle, or generaly muck about during it apart from the required drumming in the middle) as it is against my own held values

The drumming was poor and made people cringe.

The drumming was crap and made people cringe. As a non royalist it will hardly affect me will it? ;D Anyway we do garner a few smiles when we do it from those who are not staunch royalists

An emphatic NO, that is the only song worse than GSTQ. I was actually joking, and i fully agree that it is an equally as bad song. I say lets forget playing an anthem at all at home games, (unless its The Anthem, by Good Charlotte). They don't play one before each individual NHL game do they?? Lets keep it for International games.
