Well usually on Christmas Day there has usually been an episode of Only Fools & Horses or some other BBC heavyweight. This year they chose to go with The Vicar Of Dibley (Probably on the basis of its 3rd place showing in poll this year) and it delivered superbly. As it had been 5 years since the last episode I was surprised how well the cast got into the characters that they used to do with such aplomb. Well done to the writer (Richard Curtis- I think) for more classic comedy.
Corrie took the main soap honours by a mile with the Karen vs Tracey fight far exceeding anything the WWE has put on this year. The wedding was alos played out well with the prerequisite slip ups that always happen in a soap wedding. Emmerdale was an enjoyable half hour mainly for Viv Hopes singing/screeching
EastEnders was patchy and silly at times like the soap-on-the-ropes that it is. Once again the believabilty was stretched too far and even the poignant storylines fell flat.
The Big Impression whilst good didn't have enough to warrant such a prime time spot. Especially as that impressions genre title has now been taken by the Dead Ringers crew
Top Of the Pops was very weak and like EastEnders showed how far a once great show has fallen
What were other peoples Chrimbo telly treats

The Queen's speech disappointed me. All they did was talk about anyone-but-white-people, and mentioned the "tradition" of Christmas, ie not actually anything to be celebrated any more.... The Simpsons speech was also crap, though I never had high hopes for it anyway. Just lots of British stereotypes. Meh. The Snowman was as great as ever though

I was very dissapointed that Bend It Like Beckham wasn't on despite being advised. Could it have something to do with all this Politically Correct Rubbish and all the fighting in Brum?

Your only complaining because G4 didn't win, so you think it was fixed. If i was goin on about them you wouldn't care.
Anyway, back on topic, i didn't notice that Bend It Like Bekham wasn't on, i didn't know when it was supposed to be on but i knew it was advertised. The BBC do some funny things sometimes though.

True about the beeb as they had an Alister McGowan/Ronni Ancona special on Christmas Eve but it got changed.
I only wanted G4 to win in the final not the whole thing. I still have many theories as to why it was fixed though. Seeing Michelle McMammoth on TOTP re-inforced my view that Simon Cowells view on popular culture seems to have slipped him by

One annual tv festive highlight started again tonight with the Worlds Strongest Man competition. I have taped tonights heat as I was out. I gather the qualifying format has changed. My fave was always Magnus Samuelson but he is getting a bit too old to win now. I suspect the pole who won the last two years to once again be the man to beat but watch out for the Latvian (Bergmanis- I think) to push him all the way. Eastern Europe seems to have displaced Scandinavia as the powerhouse (No pun intended) in this sport these days
