You shouldn't discourage people from buying Steve's single All money raised by it is going to the Asia Disaster Fund (Nice one Steve and Simon )

Lol at Richs post Am I alone in thinking that deciding to donate proceeds from the single is just a cynical marketing ploy. Why couldn't Cowell just write a personal cheque from his own fortune discreetly .....unless he has an ulterior motive P.S. What is "obsesment"? It should be a new word

It's not just a marketing ploy, how insensitive do you think Simon and Steve are?!??!??! It always strikes me as a ploy when fabulously wealthy people need to use an incentive to back a worthy cause. This one isn't the first by a long shot and certainly won't be the last. As I said if Simon Cowell were to write a personal cheque for £1 Million I would be more than impressed but to effectively use the hard earned money of the record buying public is not a means I particularly like. I seem to recall a time after the first Band Aid record when everyone jumped on the bandwagon and released a charity record to such an extent that the chart compilers gave serious consideration to not including such records in their Top 40 listings. Besides when they do it that way it is Joe Public who is technically giving to the charities whereas the "Stars" get all the plaudits

Steve is not hughly wealthy. OK he got a million pound contract but compared to most famous ppl that is not hughly wealthy.
Can't you just see the good side, that instead of adding to his money he is giving it all the a good cause

Can't you just see the good side, that instead of adding to his money he is giving it all the a good cause It wasn't his decision it was that of Simon Cowell who IS hugely wealthy but wants to manipulate the British public yet again. Simon Cowell is a publicity junkie with the largest ego in showbiz. This from a man who made his debut in front of the camera dressed up as a dog

It was Steve's decision actually and even if Simon did suggest it (which he didn't) it would have been Steve's choice in the end. Simon could not force Steve to give up all the profits
