I like Christmas, a celebration of when Jesus was born

I always find christmas to be a right strain of panic around the shops and pubs and clubs filled with one-time-a-year-people who go over the top and spoil the atmos. New year is great for looking back and looking forward when letting ones hair down

I love the whole Xmas period simply because it is a British Tradition. I used to love it for the presents and all that but now I am older a appriciate it more for being a time to spend with the family and for eating loads of chocolate and for having a few beers, plus I usually go to the football on Boxing Day or in the case of last year I went to Manchester to watch Blaze play Phoenix, which was good (apart from Gallace missing that 1 on 1 in overtime ). Also the last three christmas days have been quality becasue each time I have been able to catch the new episode of Only Fools And Horses (forget the Queens Speech ). One thing I don't like about Christmas though is the fact that every year we have to eat Brussel Sprouts and Turkey. Why can't we just have Chicken and Baked Beans?

I don't like the whole Jesus thing as I think he's over-rated. Carlito's cool though
No seriously I love Christmas Eve in town at night apart from getting the taxi home (Grr) But never usually do (Nor have done) get up before 1.30 in the afternoon on the 25th

i'm not really bothered about all the festivities, all i'm concerned about is whether i get a few days extra off work!! lol the one thing that does make me laugh though, is the whole thing surrounding whether it is PC anymore!! you know what i mean, when you hang up your lights outside, and then you have to wonder whether you are offending muslims and sikhs and so forth............why should it offend them? i'm not offended by any of their traditions, so why should a big deal be made of it the other way around? this is not a racial dig by the way, i'm just wondering whether the media make too much of a deal about different cultures! did that make sense?!

Was reading in the paper the other day about all the odd Christmas traditions in other westernised christian countries. Makes me wonder if we do have a set tradition of what happens other than get spannered on Christmas Eve and sleep it off on Christmas day ;D
