just incase any one esle wanted to know the rules here they are...lol: BROOMBALL RULES
In general, broomball rules follow hockey rules. The following are some exceptions and explanations:
Broomball is played on a half hockey rink with hockey goals. Players wear shoes instead of skates. A team consists of eight (8) players: 4 men, 3 women, and a goalie of either sex. Teams may substitute at anytime, during play or during a stop of play. All equipment is available for checkout, including brooms and helmets. If a broom breaks during the game, it must be dropped immediately. If not dropped, the result will be a 2-minute minor penalty. Players must wear helmets at all times while on the ice, including pre-game warm-ups. Wear sweatpants or something that allows the shinguards to be worn under the sweats. Games will consist of two 15-minute running halves (may be changed to three 12-minute periods). Penalties are as follows: Minor - 2 minutes; Major - 4 minutes; Misconduct - 10 minutes. Minors, majors, and misconduct penalties are running time. Length of the periods may be adjusted by the supervisor due to extenuating circumstances. Games will not be allowed to run into the next game time. Goal scored = 1 point. Goalies
Goalies may wear catching gloves, but may not wear goalie leg pads or use a stick glove. Goalies are restricted to the goal area. If a goalie will be put on offense, the goalie must notify the referee during a stoppage of play that he/she is being "pulled" and then may play the ball anywhere. However, he/she loses all goaltending privileges. In order to regain goalie privileges, he/she must wait for a stoppage of play to notify the referee. SLIDING: Any sliding will result in a change of possession or free shot. Repeated sliding after a warning has been issued by the official will result in a, PENALTY: 2-MINUTE MINOR. ***Goals will be disallowed whenever an opposing player slides into the crease area of the net. The broom may not be raised more than approximately waist-high, including during the backswing and follow-through of a shot, PENALTY: 2-MINUTE MINOR. The ball may not be kicked, except from a player's foot to his/her broom, WARNING, SECOND ATTEMPT - PENALTY: 2-MINUTE MINOR.
A GOAL IS DISALLOWED IF A PERSON SHOOTING FOR GOAL IS OFF THEIR FEET BEFORE OR AFTER THE SHOT ON GOAL. THIS INCLUDES WHEN THE PLAYER MAKING THE SHOT SLIDES, WHETHER BEFORE OR AFTER THE SHOT. No body checking is allowed, PENALTY: DETERMINED BY SUPERVISOR OF INTENT OR FLAGRANCY, 4-MINUTE OR 10-MINUTE MAJOR. ***The primary emphasis in IM Broomball is on having fun; therfore, behavior not consistent with this principle will be penalized. Teams must be on the ice by game time. Games will start no later than 5 minutes after the start time, and playable time will be determined by the supervisor. NO EXCEPTIONS. No more than 10 sets of equipment will be checked out to each team. Equipment will be checked out from 10 minutes before the hour to the next hour. Alcohol is not allowed at the Midway Ice Arena. Violations will be grounds for forfeit and possible season suspension. Teams who forfeit two (2) games will be dropped from the league and forfeit the $30.00 deposit. Please leave the rink as you found it. Trash cans are located in the arena. Teams who do not abide by this after warnings from the referee or supervisor will be removed from the schedule.
SAFETY: Please do not move faster than what you can control.
ADDITIONAL RULES:
THE CREASE constitutes the areas two feet in front of the net and two feet either side of each post. A goal is disallowed if a player other than the goalie is in the crease. A GOALIE may play the ball with his/her hands while in the crease, but can only play the ball with his/her stick outside the crease. A GOALIE may not THROW the ball past half the distance of the ice arena. However, the goalie may hit it with his/her stick as far as he/she wants. Offsides will be called in flagrant cases. A goal cannot be scored from out of bounds on a pass-in.
sorry its in like a big block but i cudn,t get the numbers in....
