This has been in the news over the last 2 weeks since the three men were kidnapped, unfortunetley the two other US men were killed Will Ken Bigley be set free, or will he follow the same horrific fate as the two other men? Thought's go out to Ken and his family.

Everyone seems to think he will... but I don't think he will. I heard a great suggestion that everybody who goes to work over there should have like a tagging device implanted into them... so if they ever get captured then the baddies can just be bombed or something. Granted you lose the hostage, but at the same time you lose many killers.

i still can't beleive that a combined army from the UK and the US still isn't enough to stop any of this stuff from happening...........surely we should just use brute force and trample any form of resistance that stands in the way? granted, we will lose some personnel, but surely it'd better once this whole thing is sorted out in the middle east.

The whole Gulf War II has become a bit of a mess but withdrawing now would be wrong.
My one thought is that civillians working in the middle east know what the potential pitfalls could be so need to make sure the resident military know where they were.
As for the Tony Blair question. Well he is paid to govern our country not make military decisions in a foreign land. Having sent the troops in it is now their ball game until the PM & President decide to pull them out.
Final thought- You cannot negotiate with terrorists or rebels (Or unions)

Possibly sold him on, apparently it's quite common over there.

What they traded him? What did the first gang get? An AK47, two French journalists, and a camel...plus the first pick in the 2005 hostage draft, and three hostage prospects who may or may not make the 7 o'clock news. Sorry... Seriously, I very much hope that the people in power in this country remove their fingers from their rears and get on with getting him out.

Might be better if they swapped him for Billy Connolly

I'm quite surprised the PC brigade haven't already flamed me for that, actually... I should also mention that all deals are subject to the current 'lock-out' going on in Iraq-if the British and US armies resolve the current labour dispute between fundamentalists and moderates, the trigger will not be pulled on the deal-the French also have the right of arbitration.
Seriously, to bring the conversation up to a lighter level, what would constitute a good trade? Weapons, other hostages, money...or perhaps Tony Blair himself? What would you give to get Ken Bigley free?

What would you give to get Ken Bigley free? How about if they don't release him we send Jim Davidson to tour and give them their entire BBC library of EastEnders tapes and pipe it on to big screens all over the place
