After the idea suggested by Whiskey on another thread, I'm going to have a crack at a fantasy ice-hockey league-for which I'm currently setting up a web page-however, it'll not start til ALL rosters are set fully -i.e the regular season (most likely some time next week) and will not include challenge or Continental Cup games (sorry Panthers fans...) The format I have in mind at the moment is thus-
Having, of course, picked a suitable team name, you enter a team of 3 lines of 5 (ie, 9 forwards and 6 defence) and two goalies, one of whom must be nominated as your starter (you can change this throughout the season-however, once changed, the goalie must remain as the starter for a month)-the goalie whose points will be taken into account. Points will work thus...
OUTSKATERS
Goal: 2 points (4 for a d-man)
Assist: 1 point (2 for a d-man)
Game misconduct: - 10 points
GOALIES
Shutout-5 points
Win-2 points
+5 goals conceded in a game- -5 points
HOWEVER, to avoid rosters that just contain the best players from each team, you must pick at least 3 Brits. Also, two forwards and one d-man from each team will be assigned 'superstar' status-you're only allowed 3 of them on your roster. Nationalities are as given by the teams-none of this 'he's a import but plays for GB' stuff-which makes, for example, Brent Pope an import) Due to the practical impossibility of me keeping track of all injuries, transfers etc, the rules work like this-the roster you pick at the beginning, like the EIHL, is the roster you've got to work with. Only if a player leaves the Elite League (because he's dropped, goes abroad or suffers a season-ending injury) are you allowed to bring in a replacement. If a player gets injured, it's your hard luck.
There may well be refinements to this-however, there are the basic rules-I hope to get things set up properly by the end of this week...
Also, if anyone is willing to help, has ideas or a way to organize prizes, etc, let me know by either leaving me a message on this topic, or emailing me-I think my address is available-if not I shall put a link on the site.
