I was in a French lesson back when I used to attend King Henry VIII school. Most of the classes at school stopped and they just watched the events unfold on the TV. I didn't find out until school finished at 4pm.
My longest-known friend Sameer told me at first "a plane has crashed into the twin towers" and because I was immature and a bit of a **** I made some passing comment like "who cares?" and he replied with "No, it's terrible, loads of people have been killed."
So then I felt the same sadness that everyone was feeling... I got home and watched them reporting it on Sky News (though not the footage of the actual crashes, which I didnt see until months later). I said something which I still agree with today "this is the worst thing that ever happened."

I was picking up my Season Ticket at the Steelers, when they announced it all Was over in Florida just before the 1st anniversary (sp.) and the effort to make people remember it, was as much as they do to remember the war veterens - just shows how much the American people hold 9/11 dear to their heart - which aint suprising really. Gonna be weird playing Belfast on 9/11!!!

I was at school when it happened but I got home and as usual I turned the telly on to look at ceefax and teletext to check the usual stuff such as sports news, TV listings, etc. Anyway I then realised that the news was on BBC1 and I remember thinking how come the news is on now. I then put BBC2 on and exacly the same program was on. Infact the news was on all 5 of the normal channels and also the same story was being reported on Sky News, ITN News, CNN News and the German News channel that I had at the time. It was then that I realised that something really bad had happened so I looked on teletext and read all about it.

I was in French class. I was at Henry VIII too, and some German teacher ran into the room saying "quick, put the TV on, you have to see this!" So we put it on and spent the rest of the French lesson watching sky news until we were sent home at 4.

I was at bluecoat school, in M's form room I think, when I got told. Then i got home and watched it on sky news. It was one of the saddest moments of my life, seeing the images.

I remember this well. I was in Kardamana on the island of Kos with a bunch of friends (Mainly from Leicester) I decided to go to a local bar (For a cola!) and watch repeated episodes of the latest series of Friends. Near the end of one of them the panicky propreitor asked if he could switch HIS television over to CNN for the news. i replied "Can I just watch the end of this one first?" Anyway after it finished he switched it over. the rest is history.
Of partivular note is that on that day a watch I had had for many years suddenly stopped on a very chilling time. it was exactly half way between the strikes on both towers in US time! I kid you not. I still have the watch somewhere as it seemed too freaky to throw away
