Putting this one on a new thread from all other Euro 2004 related ones as tonights game between Holland and the Czech Republic was the best game this year by a mile (not just in Euro 2004)
It was scintillating stuff from beginning to end and got me thinking, What is the best international game you've ever seen (Live or on tv)

By far the best way above the all of the great games listed was the World Cup semi final in Spain in 1982

The best midfield collective seen in last 30 years Platini, Girese Tigana et al
West Germanys greatest striker since the days of Gerd Mullerin Karl Heinz Ruminigge (Think Klinsmann then multiply quality by 15)
In extra time a two goal lead pegged back
The worst ever foul committed on a football pitch
2 arch enemies determined not to yield an inch
AND the first ever penalty shoot out in a major international tournament that I ever saw

if that foul you are refering to is the Schumacher - Bastin (?) incident then i agree with you 100%. how he didn't get sent off is a mystery to me!

Yeah it was on Battiston. It was the swiftest take out of French by Germans since the Champs Elysee was awoken to the sound of jackboots!

Incidentally the referee gave a goal kick and came from Switzerland!! Some things never change
