2-1 France. On the bright side, Paul Scholes scores! For france, a neatly tucked away finish inside the penalty area by david trezeguet and a nice finish by zidane.

If I wasn't English I would go for a draw but I am English so I have to be positive. I am sticking by my prediction that I put on my 1st post on this thread.

just so everyone knows, if you look further up this thread, then you'll see I predicted 2-1 France, so I predicted right. Being scottish , it was a great weekend of sport. Scotland beat australia at rugby and England lost at both football and rugby, must hurt!

it doesn't really hurt, sure we let in 2 quick goals in the football, but don't forget that we still beat New Zealand at cricket and clinched that series 3-0, and also our 'A' Rugby squad beat Canada last night too. so not really a bad day for English sport, although it could have been better if it weren't for that Beckham, Gerrard, Heskey...........etc!!! lol

Im not to bothered about the rugby, I want England to win cus its national pride but at the end of the day we won the World Cup, its not the end of the World if we lose the odd test match providing we sort ourselves out in time for the next World Cup in 2007.
As for the footie well I don't really want to talk about it but now I am on the subject I will. The lads did us proud. I don't blame Garrald cus he made a human error, it could happen to anyone when under presure. I don't blame James cus he had a good game and Henry had to be stopped or he would almost certainly have scored. I blame that Spice Girl, Becky Beckscum. She rushed the penalty when her team was 1-0 up and she cocked it up. She has cost us 2 World Cups, has she cost us a European Championships now?

Haha as great as that last post was I have to disagree about Becks. He had a fair game, and the penalty itself wasn't bad. It was Fabien Barthez's good, not Becks' bad. It seems a bit hypocritical when you say: and then slate Becks for having a penalty saved. There's no point having a scapegoat for the loss, it was just a very unlucky last few minutes, but from the display we showed for most of the game we can go into the next games against lesser teams with confidence. All of the 14 English players that played yesterday either had an "alright" game or a good game, the result aside. On a side note, I have money on Bulgaria, so c'mon Bulgaria!

I agree with king rich. Dude, it was a good penalty and a great save by Barthez, sometimes, all you can say is 'what a great save'. I used to think you knew your fair stuff about football, but the way your talking about beck's and that gerrard's mistake was fair enough is ridiculous.

I am not gona slate David Beckham anymore cus he is still our captain. I do think he should have took his time with the spot kick though. Gerrald's mistake was when the ball was in play so he didn't exacly have time to think about what he was doing as he was under presure. Also Bald Former ManUre Scum goalkeeper was off his line so the penalty should have been retaken.
Anyway as I said I am still right behind Beckham and the lads and I will be watching the game at on Thursday. Usually when Becks mucks up in a tournament he does something good before such as the freekick against Columbia in 98 and the penalty against the Argies in 2002. Well at least now he has got his c**k up out the way so he might go and do something good later on in the tournament.
