OK so let's make this the official thread. So we need to win, and Belfast need to lose for us to go top of the league, right? I don't think I'm going to make it tonight through illness...

Hi King Rich, I aint at tonights game either due to family reasons. Last I heard it was 1-1. Payette scored for us. Sheffield and Belfast was 0-0 in the 2nd period. I am not to bothered about that score though anyway. I just want Blaze to win. If we win then whatever happens in the other game we will have pulled away from either Sheffield. It would be nice if Sheffield won and we went top for the night but Belfast winning would mean we will have pulled away from the Steelers, which will be good thing because I am sure that they will be up there come the end of the season despite them not having the best of starts.

Ouch, that third goal really hurt, I think we should have won tonight. Good job by the Racers goalie though.

Well....what can i say!! Blaze were 2-1 up, looking quite comfortable, when Jody Lehman goes and messes around with the puck by his goal instead of getting rid of it (when he clearly could have) and a London player takes the puck off him, whips it across the empty net for a tap in 2-2. If that wasn't bad enough, Blaze were playing the last few mins of the game on a penalty kill. They succesfully killed it, but a few seconds after that...the Racers go and score 3-2, giving the Blaze a couple of minutes to get an equaliser, but couldn't.
I have to say i never really moan about Jodys netminding, but tonight..i'm afraid i'm going to have to. Jodys school-boy error costs the Blaze the top of the league slot-simple as that!
Well done Racers!

We should have won, we had twice as many shots on goal as them! Their second goal was Jody's fault though (and people wonder why i ain't his biggest fan!)

Their second goal was Jody's fault though (and people wonder why i ain't his biggest fan!) i agree that it was jody's fault on the second, but you have stated the real problem in your post.........and that is we outshoot the opposition, but never seem to score! Why? at least 5 or 6 times tonight we had a perfect opportunity to score, but the shot was right down the keepers throat, and by saying this i am not trying to take anything from Daigle as i think he was quality tonight. the answer to our problems is try shooting past the keeper, and not straight at him. P.S. Big up to Eric Cairns who signed autographs for us outside. What a player!

I count this as the fifth time (4 this season and once last) that a win on the night would see us at the summit of the Elite League and we blew it yet again.
I know a lot of people are blaming Jody but surely we win as a team and lose as a team. At the end of the day the out skaters could only manage to score twice against which looked an ordinary defence.
Ah well there's always next week

Yes Jody made a mistake and it cost us a goal and more than likely the match but he is just one player. We had 53 shots on goal and only scored 2 which is not good enough if we want to win silverware.

After calming down a bit from last nights game, i can see that it was not all Jody's fault that we lost, as i did seem to be making out. Giguere35 is right, we did have 53 shots on goal and only manage to score two, at this level we should be netting a lot more than that. "We win as a team and lose as a team", well said Whiskey. Jody does need to sort himself out though.
