My mate says that Ledley King and Tim Howard are the 2 best players in the World. I don't quite agree with that but King did score for us on his England debut against Portugal.

Having a defender from a poor Spurs side doesn'y exactly fill me with confidence. I think he's only there as Ferdinand, Woodgate & Southgate are likely to be unavailable although Southgate is being given a shot at fitness.
The midfield is OK, but I think the problems are up front. Heskey- gimme a break Rooney- has disappointed this year will a big tournament break him.
But for nerves look at the goalies. 2 suffered relegation and the other is Calamity James who just missed out!!
Arrghhh!

As far as i'm concerned Chris Kirkland is the England Number 1 of the future, when he finnally gets himself fit.

i was a little bit surprised to see that Defoe was not included in the 23, as I believe he would have made a very good addition. He is quick and can score goals, which the others have not really done this season. Since he came back into the Premiership he has looked good, even though he chose the wrong team (spurs). Seen as P Neville has been picked that should leave room for a fifth forward shouldn't it? as he can play in midfield like he does for Man U.

I think Heskey will start against France as he gives us that physical presence. But it's a game we need to win and I doubt he will bang in the goals for us. My line up would be:
James Cole Campbell Terry G Neville Hargreaves/Scholes Lampard Gerrard Beckham Owen Heskey

Personally I would pack the defence for the first game against the French and hope for a draw. You never want to lose your first game as you seem to play catch up if you do. Bit like what happened four years ago
