Tonight I'm off to Brandon to watch the Buildbase Bees take on Arena Essex.
Anyone else follow speedway?
Bees are currently rock bottom of the league, so in a perverse way it will be intersting to follow a less succesful team than I do in hockey and football
I used to go regularly over 10 years ago but have only been once since the British final in 1994

I have been twice in my lifetime. 1996 can't remember the exact date but it was the same day that the Atlanta Olympics started. Bees won. Then on 13th April 2002 I went and saw Bees beat Wolverhampton Wolves. My mate used to be a regular but isn't going much at the moment. They are having an awful season. usually they are challenging at the top of the league.

Bees lost tonight 45-51 (I think) It was a good night out though very enjoyable.
One heat was one by 16 year old Morten Risager which made me think taht if it were hockey the fans would be singing "You got beaten by a kid"
Thursday nights are the home matches, I will miss next weeks cause of the Skittles night in Bulkington but endeavour to go to a few matches this year.
The smell of the place is soo intoxicating

i think i've been to Brandon about 11 or 12 times now, and i've only seen the Bees lose once, and that was against Poole Pirates in the Playoff Final (?) last year.

I used to go up the speedway between 1970 and 85 when the likes of boocock and harry used to ride but a friend of mine called john louis who rode for ipswich and england was about so i travelled to ipswich a lot to and yes it is his son who is on sky sports. Is there anybody else who remembers that great era in british speedway?

I used to go semi-regulaly between the years of 1985 and 1994. I can't recall the Bees losing too often in those years and were generally considered one of the countries top sides.
It is freaky how many Skydome faces I recognised there last night

They were a good side then and there is a lot of faces i recognise from pre 85 at the skydome on match night now thats freaky. did anybody go abroad to see the ice racing it was a cross between speedway and road racing on an ice track but the tyres had spikes in them now they were nutters

I can imagine Lol.
According to the Telegraph it looks as if changes are being made to the management of the team. Think the top money men blame inconsistency

Found this thread and dragged it back up as the prgress id startling. As pointed out upon first game the Bees were rock bottom (Still bottom) My first 4 matches this season have yielded 3 wins Got me thinking I might be some form of good luck charm for home teams, When I first got into the Blaze I didn't see a defeat until the 13th match Last season in 7 visits to Villa Park I didn't see Villa lose.
The league cup vs Spurs apart, in approx 8 trips to Highhfield Road I never saw a home defeat
Has anyone else had a run of fortune like this
