Another cracking result from the Phoenix, 4th place Coventry travelled to 1st place to Nottingham to take on the Vipers, in the Division One (North) and it ended...
Nottingham Vipers 1 Coventry Phoenix 1.
A suprub individual effort from Hannah Southam took the lead for the Phoenix 30 seconds in the 2nd period, Vipers leveled the scoreline 3 minutes later, but despite outshooting the Phoenix by 19 shots to 9, Phoenix hung on and secured a stunning tie against the league leaders, which opens the league back up again.
The point establishes the Phoenix in the top half of the table with a record of two wins, one tie and two losses. Phoenix are next up in a double header away weekend against 7th place Sheffield Shadows B, and 6th place Whitley Bay Squaws.

I know the rules are different in international womens hockey and that was one of them.
I watched some games in Canada and while the games werent as aggresive the skill level was very high and it was entertaining.
I dont think they are aloowed to fight either.

You obviously didn't see Sheffield/Newcastle earlier this season Three fights, thirteen goals one hell of a hockey game ;D. In Layman's terms, rule differences between EIHL and Womens in the UK: Body Checking: EIHL: Permitted, up to a maximum of two strides before the contact, otherwise penalty called as Charging or Boarding. Womens: Not permitted if any strides used to increase speed. If a player 'glides' into another this is legal contact not a body check. Fighting: EIHL: First fight awarded 2+2, 2nd fight 5+GM. Womens: Fighting awarded 2+2 or 2+2+10 if the gloves come off, No fight restrictions, at referee's discrestion. A few more little things but those are the biggies.

Whens the next Pheonix home game then and how much are they?
Can a player stride like hell before a hit but then glide for a foot or so to make the hit, is that legal?

Honest answer, depends on the referee's intepretation of the rule. Some will give out a minor penalty for bodychecking, some will consider it a legal hit. Phoenix's next home game is on Sunday 9th April against Blackburn Thunder, 6:00pm face off and admission is free.

Well since you play at a decent time and not midnight I might make the journey.
How are you involved in the Pheonix?
