21/11/05 - Phoenix Rock in Estonia
Coventry Phoenix, the City’s women’s ice hockey team, are once again is flying the flag out in Estonia at the Girls ROCK 2005 Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament to be held over the weekend of the November 26th and 27th at the Premia Jaahall in the Estonian capital, Tallinn.
The tournament will be featuring teams from Great Britain, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia and the United States
Phoenix will hope to improve on last seasons performance where they finished 4th in the 5 team tournament, but will face tough competition in this season as it has been expanded out to eight teams.
The Skydome Arena based outfit have been drawn in Group A, and will face KSF Wildcats from Denmark, the host club HC Dreamland Queens and the Robert Morris College Eagles from the United States on the opening day of the tournament, before playing two playoff games the following day.
Speaking on behalf of the Phoenix , Club Chairman Richard Carpenter said “We’re delighted to be going back to Tallinn and can’t wait to face some of the sides that we normally would never get a chance to play. I’m sure whatever the scoreline it will be a fantastic trip and something for the team to look back on in years to come.”
Tournament Organiser Evelyn Roosileht added “We are getting more and more excited about the Girls Rock tournament which is getting closer and closer, and we are looking forward to hosting the biggest women’s tournament ever to be held in Estonia ”
