Since I missed alot of the earlier thread I will try and have my say here.
I dont agree with banter towards players unless there is a reason for it ie if Anglestadt plays again.
At the end of the day the players are there to play and entertain us and abusing them from the safety of the stands is pretty cowardly in my point of view.
I also think that any player who has played at a level of sport like the NHL will ignore most of it anyhow, but it just seems lame to try.
There you go, I expect this to get frozen but hopefully a couple of people will read it first.

Perfectly good subject davetheblaze.
All i will do is move it into the Ice Hockey section, this is purely a Coventry Blaze section only you see.

Just out of interest, why was the earlier thread locked? As I´ve stated on the Fleury thread, I see no problem with the odd dig at an opposition player-after all, you´re not telling me that me shouting "Goulet, you couldn´t score in a brothel" when he misses a sitter is seriously going to affect him? After all, both he and I know that, placed in the same position, the chances of me putting that puck in the net, past an Elite League goalie, having fought my way through an Elite League calibre defence to get there, are pretty minimal (I play hockey, but not THAT well . It could be argued that people enter into banter with the full knowledge that the player, should he be so inclined, can turn round and say "alright then, YOU do it better" or something similar. Also, spectators having a dig at players is a major part of any sport: cricket has "sledging", football has the terraces, and if you´ve ever played ice hockey or any other sport at any competitive level you know that what´s said on the field of play is often ten times worse than anything thrown from the stands... What would be ideal, as I´ve said in the other thread, is some sort of code. That way, EVERYBODY knows where the line is, and we don´t have confusion and recriminations like in the Fleury thread (which developed into a highly interesting debate)

I have no problem with banter when it isnt offensive.
I generally use the rule that you shouldnt shout what you wouldnt say to them after the game.
When a player slips over and the crowd cheers usually the player gets up smiling which I think is ok, however I feel that some of the Blaze crowd like to use the safety of the stands to shout things which they would not normally say.
I accept what is said in most sports can get heated and you dont have to be a lip reader to get the gist. However what a player says to another players face is a different matter.
I also admit that it is common in football but I would like to consider hockey fans a level or two above football fans, fan snobbery maybe but I wouldnt like to see flying kicking hockey players flying into the crowd. Well it would be interesting.
I did think the other thread did get silly but I suggest the rule is that its nothing which you wouldnt say to the players in real life.
I think in general the Blaze fans are good and nothing too bad is said but there does seem to be a growing number who only go to the games to wind up the players or sometimes the away fans.
I still dont get why the other thread was frozen.

Have a feeling the freeze was a knee jerk reaction.
Banter is fine between fans to players and rival fans.
When it gets offensive though is when it stops being fair.
Most of us are mature enough to know the difference. Some may push the envelope a bit but rarely out in the open do things go too far

I wouldnt like to see flying kicking hockey players flying into the crowd. Well it would be interesting. Having someone's skate in the face is one thing I wouldn't like to have happen to me as it could do some serious damage. I have to admit it would be a funny sight though, I could just imagine Kurt Irvine doing it
