Regina SK ---- This morning the Regina Pats Hockey Club announced that Mike Blaisdell has resigned from his position as Assistant Coach to pursue other hockey & business opportunities.
"We thanks Mike for his efforts over the past year and for the passion he brought to the rink everyday. His zest for the game and his pride in being a member of the Pats will be missed. We wish him and his family all the best in his future endeavours," commented Pats' GM Brent Parker
Prior to last season Blaisdell had spent three seasons as the Head Coach of the Sheffield Steelers compiling a record of 80-34-20-2. The Steelers were a part of the British Ice Hockey League Superleague, until the 2003-2004 season when they became a part of the Elite Ice Hockey League. Last spring Mike was inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall Of Fame as a Player & Coach.
Blaisdell played for the Pats in 1979-80 when the team reached the Memorial Cup. In that season Blaisdell appeared in 63 games scoring 71 goals & 38 assists, while adding 62 penalty minutes. In the postseason he added 16 goals and 9 assists in 18 games.
