I do disagree with my collegue AJ...you should be in the sport for the reasons as well as the collisions, firendship, rivalry, etc. This is what seperates us from main stream sports. Our target audience is families and they want entertainment and if you don't agree go and watch the Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team who have very successfully packaged their product (I'm sure most of their supporters don't understand the complexities of the game, but 3,000 of them pay £10 each every week to watch a great show).
So we don't understand the complexities of the game do we ? Who does this guy think he is ?

Yes. Starting a thread with the response is a little confusing

the piece I posted was by a director of Coventry Jets American Football team and appeared on a national message board. I just thought that the guy was talking rubbish and wondered what other people felt.

The directors of the team were at a hockey game before and were trying to poach myself and Davey Boy to join their team! Glad I didn't, now that they're insulting ice hockey fans!

The Jets chairman says that he thinks "most of their supporters don't understand the complexities of the game" when refering to ice hockey. I would like to know how many of the Jets supporters understand the American football rules! I used to play for the Leicester Panthers and believe me the rules of American football are a damn sight more complicated than Ice hockey.

Well I don't understand American Football but thats because I'v never really watched it. I just know from watching various films that its a load of men covered in armer running round shouting stuff and chasing after a ball similar to the one you get in rugby. Don't get me wrong im sure there is a lot more to American Football than that and who knows if I ever went to a game I might enjoy it, but from somebody who has never watched the game thats all it is to me.
It took me a while to fully understand ice hockey though but it didn't stop me enjoying going to support my local team.

I do understand American Football quite well but don't believe you have to know all there is to know about a sport to not be patronised. Let's face it if we knew every rule then we'd all be stripeys....and in danger from the Landan Goons
