I read on the Cage forum that Shaun Yardley faces serious knee surgery and that donations have been flooding in to help him out with the costs. Forgot to copy the link to it all from the Phantoms site.
It will be a shame as I recall his enthusiasm when he was a Blaze player

I remember him scoring 5 goals once in one of them Best Of British games. He was tipped for great things along with Russ Cowley.

Just thought I'd say that it was posted on Monday on the cage forum that Shaun had his operation and that it went well. Sounds like it was quite serious but they said he should be back to normal in about 4 weeks.
Last I heard they'd managed to raise £848.53 for the £1800 operation.

I can only recall about 4/5 teams actually being in it. Or were there some more in another group? Well the way it was supposed to work, was that there was three Groups. Scotland (Fife, Edinburgh, Paisley) Midlands (Coventry, MK, Petebourgh) South (Guildford, Basingstoke, Slough) Hull didn't take part. The theory was, you played each team once at homea nd once away. But it didn't happen cause three group games didn't get played. Then , the Midlands winner was supposed to play the South winner to be English Champion. Which didn't happen. Then the English Champions would play the Scottish Champion. Which obviously didn't happen. Then the following year... Excactly the same set up.... but while the South group actually did finish their group, the Midlands didn't really get started with Coventry only playing their home games (beating MK and Peterbourgh) leaving 4 games in total to play. It was even worse in the scotland group, where only one game took place. Unsuprisingly, they saw sense and scrapped it. To be honest, i'm for a Best of British tournament, but i think it should be an 16 team knockout cup single leg FA cup style event. So the kids do get a run about... but it doesn't congest the fixture schedule.
