Sly Quits!
The London Racers are disappointed to announce that net-minder, Sylvain Daigle, has submitted notice to terminate his contract.
In response, Coach Maxwell said, "We've gone out of our way to do everything for Sly, but I guess for some guys you just can't do enough. He promised me in the summer that he was a 'team' guy, and a month ago he reassured of his commitment to the entire season. He must have forgotten that. We've been short players all season, and the guys have battled hard for each other; however giving notice now is not a Christmas present for his team-mates. It also speaks volumes about character and commitment when a full week of that notice period is in fact 'time-off' on holiday."
Racers management, having made a concerted effort to make the player happy were shocked by the news and surprised with his reasons. Daigle said that he wanted to play more games and was unhappy with the calibre of play.
Coach Maxwell went on to say, "Strength of character matters, particularly in the playoffs. We've got that! This is one of the happiest and most together teams I've ever been a part of. Just look at how most of our guys are over-performing because their heart is where it should be. Fans need not worry about where we go from here."
Negotiations with several net-minders are already underway and an announcement on the replacement will be made shortly.
Sylvain Daigle's last game will be on Wednesday, 29 December, against the Basingstoke Bison.

Well I'm shocked Thought he seemed to be settled in a difficult to beat side. Wheels could fall off the Racers now unless they recruit strongly

i wonder if they'll do as last year and recruit a goalie with his save percentage on his back (stand up Evan Lindsay).........??
Daigle always seemed to be the strongest link on the racers roster when i've seen them play. He always managed to keep the goals down to a minimum, in fact if he had a good defence in front of him, that team would be very hard to beat......ah well, i wonder who they'll replace him with!?

well, according to Rick Strang (Racers Bench Person!) he reckons that the Racers will bounce back strongly with the replacement!!
I hope by bounce, he means lots of bouncy rebounds from the goalie.........actually if they are stuck for a replacement, the legend that is Pasi Raitanen (ex-Hull, Newcastle, Peterborough etc) is availiable i believe!?

Daigle going is a blow for the racers, but rumour has it they are in talks wih a NHL goalie

Big difference with the calibre of NHL goalie they might get is that they will be used to playing in front of an NHL calibre defence which might make him not quite the hope they thought

Surely the only available goalies at this point in the season will be those least sought-after by other teams, and, well, not that good?!

I think London will replace him with another quality player, as there staff are finding and recruiting some great players recently.
