COVENTRY PHOENIX MEDIA RELEASE
The Coventry Phoenix are proud to announce that their #77 Defensive Player Miss Sarah Evan has been chosen to represent the Southern Conference Women's Junior Team.
Having attended her first trial back in August, 13 year old Sarah was invited back on Saturday 25th September to her second trial at Alexandra Palace where she trained with players not just from our own League Division one South but also with many players from the Women's Premier League. At such a young age Sarah showed great courage and strength in going out on the ice as the sole representative from Coventry. Sarah, as one of the youngest players on this ice was also representing the newest team in the league but this certainly was not evident as she impressed the coaches and fellow players on the ice. During the skating drills she was absolutely incredible, showing just what a talent she is and in the scrimmages her natural defensive ability shone out.
As well as playing for the Phoenix Sarah also plays for the Junior Blaze U14’s team and I know that they will be just as proud as we are at this news as this is where she started her hockey career. Sarah now has a very busy few months ahead of her. Playing Junior Hockey, Senior Women’s Hockey and Conference level hockey at the age of 13 is a massive achievement, one that cannot be understated and one that she thoroughly deserves.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish her all the best of luck and will be there to support her and her family every step of the way.
