I first saw this film at the cinema on 29th September 2001 the same day that I saw a poster advertising Coventry Blaze and thought to myself, I am going to go to our next game.

Anyway I taped it and watched it again at the weekend. Its not the best football film ever as the storyline is a bit rubbish and unrealistic. I find it a bit silly the way England are awful then Mike Bassett makes a speach and all of a sudden they beat Argentina, beat Romania and beat France. However it does have some really funny bits in like at the start when Norwich win the cup (thats funny in itself) and the victory bus goes the wrong way down the one way system.

It is good fun in a pure escapism way. It does have nearly every football cliche in it too.
My fave bit is when he announces his first squad which he has written on the bag of a cigarette packet and included two players called Benson & Hedges ;D
