Frank I think you will find that Carson was not asked to reff ANY Cardiff not Blaze as he developed a problem with Ivan and the whole 'cut your chin on the ice' started THAT whole thing off.

And also I would say that ANY player that has had some much written about him both in the press and on diffrent forums would be whenever on the ice in the back of the reff's mind. Hence the reason he gets called all the time.

But so early on in the season and already one game ban? he will miss alot of games this year if he keeops doing bonehead stuff.

My verdict-
I don't think he'll be as hard as I originally thought he would be, but he WILL protect our team although this season we have a pretty tough team anyway (schlender, martin, schuller, mihalik, poirier)- all can handle themselves and thats not even including the likes of calder/carlson/pease/tait etc, who all look quite tough early on. I think he'll win his majority of fights, just struggle maybe against the real heavies (anglestad/craighead/darling/cornish).

I thought that too! I was thinking, if Payette was on the ice he might have been battered around the ice. Then again, JC might have been a little down, as Payette wasn't playing

I think we will likely see AP throw his weight around against everyone early in the season and then let the fear factor do his work for him after that and he can get on with playing. Sounds like good tactics if it happens this way.
That said I think we have a general physical presence this year with a number of capable guys when the going gets rough
